Got one of my kids a nice 27 inch gaming monitor for his computer for Christmas. Today I bumped his desk and it tipped over and the panel is shot.

Is there a younger kid you can blame?

Also, double check if you payed with a credit card, some of them still give purchase protection for stuff like that.

Best Buy screwed me, too. Did an online chat with “The Geek Squad” since I bought monitor there. “Sarah” told me that if I took it into the store, they’d be able to send it out for repair for $85 labor plus parts. So I make an appointment (!) and drive 30 mins to the nearest BB, still wait 20 mins in line, only to be told “naw, we don’t do anything with damaged monitors”. If I wasn’t already in a foul mood.

Thinking I might be able to get $100 or so by selling the broken monitor on eBay for parts.

At $85 + parts, you might as well get a new monitor. I'm not a gamer, but this doesn't seem horrible for <$200:

Going to the emergency room at 6 in the morning for what I thought was food poisoning but instead the pain never stops. The initial test results seem to indicate it’s nothing serious, but I really would have liked to have slept tonight... and last night.

So here's a cool update. The manufacturer (LG) agreed to repair (parts, labor and shipping both ways) for $150 plus a 90-day warranty on the repair. They claim they can get it back to me in 10 days. Pretty impressive.

If anyone's thinking about getting appendicitis, I'd advise against it. It's been over a day and I'm still trying to clear my throat from having a breathing tube put down my throat during surgery.

Walgreens and other retailers have swapped out the clear fridge and freezer doors at thousands of stores, instead adding opaque doors with iPad-like screens showing what's inside. Some customers really, really aren't into it.
