Timone 05-09-2020, 06:32 PM Just had to pick up a dead squirrel. Glenn 04-07-2021, 05:55 PM Got one of my kids a nice 27 inch gaming monitor for his computer for Christmas. Today I bumped his desk and it tipped over and the panel is shot. Vinny 04-07-2021, 11:05 PM Is there a younger kid you can blame? Vinny 04-07-2021, 11:07 PM Also, double check if you payed with a credit card, some of them still give purchase protection for stuff like that. Glenn 04-08-2021, 04:48 AM Thanks. This year was one of the first we’ve had without using credit. Which is good, I guess. Best Buy screwed me, too. Did an online chat with “The Geek Squad” since I bought monitor there. “Sarah” told me that if I took it into the store, they’d be able to send it out for repair for $85 labor plus parts. So I make an appointment (!) and drive 30 mins to the nearest BB, still wait 20 mins in line, only to be told “naw, we don’t do anything with damaged monitors”. If I wasn’t already in a foul mood. Thinking I might be able to get $100 or so by selling the broken monitor on eBay for parts. Uncle Mxy 04-08-2021, 07:19 AM At $85 + parts, you might as well get a new monitor. I'm not a gamer, but this doesn't seem horrible for <$200: https://www.newegg.com/black-acer-kg1-series-kg271-bmiix-27/p/N82E16824011127 Mr. Oobir 04-08-2021, 07:34 AM Going to the emergency room at 6 in the morning for what I thought was food poisoning but instead the pain never stops. The initial test results seem to indicate it’s nothing serious, but I really would have liked to have slept tonight... and last night. Glenn 04-08-2021, 08:47 AM Thanks, Mxy. And sorry to hear this, oobir. Glenn 04-08-2021, 11:30 AM So here's a cool update. The manufacturer (LG) agreed to repair (parts, labor and shipping both ways) for $150 plus a 90-day warranty on the repair. They claim they can get it back to me in 10 days. Pretty impressive. Uncle Mxy 04-08-2021, 04:36 PM LG=Life's Good, or Lucky Goldstar Mr. Oobir 04-09-2021, 07:54 PM If anyone's thinking about getting appendicitis, I'd advise against it. It's been over a day and I'm still trying to clear my throat from having a breathing tube put down my throat during surgery. (For Things That Are Good, look up "sequential compression device," I want a set for home now.) Glenn 04-09-2021, 09:57 PM Ouch/Ugh Glenn 09-11-2021, 08:51 PM Those Caesars Sportsbook commercials Vinny 09-11-2021, 09:11 PM Those Caesars Sportsbook commercials I'm 90% streaming at this point and literally 90% of commercials on streaming are for Gambling sites. That and "don't smoke weed and drive". Glenn 09-11-2021, 09:16 PM I hear them nonstop on Spotify, but I still refuse to pay for premium Uncle Mxy 09-12-2021, 07:17 AM A hacked Spotify client gathers no ads. Mr. Oobir 01-27-2022, 11:05 PM Capacitive touch buttons on appliances. It can take 2-3 tries before they will register a press. Just let me push a real danged button! Uncle Mxy 03-13-2022, 07:58 PM Walgreens and other retailers have swapped out the clear fridge and freezer doors at thousands of stores, instead adding opaque doors with iPad-like screens showing what's inside. Some customers really, really aren't into it. https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/12/business/walgreens-freezer-screens/index.html timbeau0805 03-02-2024, 07:00 AM Can we not delete posts anymore? Am I actually going to have to put some thought into what I post? Fuck. |
