It was noted during this process that we could generally grill perfectly good hamburgers in the comfort of our own homes in about five minutes. (One participant asked if it was possible to overcook cheeseburger in a can, or get cheeseburger in a can medium rare instead of well done.) Just went backpacking over the holiday weekend. Clearly the "A.V Club" don't actually camp. Try this:

Cook up two burgers, top them with pepper jack cheese, and stack them. Bacon between and on top of the burgerstack. Sautee'd onions on top of the burger/bacon house. Cook some baked beans, mix in a good dose of barbecue sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray's), and put that on top of everything (within reason), inside the buns. Buns should be toasted, of course.

That's what I just had, and it was miraculous.
