I think Art is gone. He got into a couple of flame wars and just stopped coming around rather than deal with people calling him out on old stuff every time he posted. Have you ever had a rookie come to the board with this record? My first 4 threads started....3 were moved, 1 was moved and edited. That has to be some sort of a record. Seriously, thx to whomever moved/edited things for my lame ass. Moodini, Mola, etc.

So I'm on a self-imposed thread starting ban until I get more familiar with the board.

Hey all, name's Jared and am a big Detroit sports fan from Saginaw. I'm in SVSU's accelerated teacher certification program for the next year, and do some music journalism as well.

Theres to many old fucks teaching around here.

DrTre is a teacher as well. Jared and I aren't actually teachers yet, but hopefully we will be a year from now. What we'll be doing this year is student teaching all year at Saginaw Arthur Hill (defending Class A basketball champs) while taking classes at SVSU at night to finish our certification.
After that we'll be looking for teaching jobs (not exactly easy to find in Michigan). If some of those old farts in your area finally retire, maybe I actually will end up there. Who knows.
But based on some things I learned today about the teaching system, salaries and pensions, I fully understand why most of the old crusty teachers who should be gone are sticking around. Big money, very big money compared to everything you've ever heard about how teachers don't get paid. Let's just say these guys in their 70's that haven't taught a new thing in over a decade are pulling in 6 figures and adding another 1.5% to their pension every year they stick around. It sucks for me now, but hopefully I'll be in a position to benefit from it later on - and caring deeply for the future of your children of course.
