Kstat 02-28-2010, 01:52 AM hard to attempt shots with confidence when youre only playing 18 minutes and youre expected to score 20 points.
Rip eating up his minutes is taking shots from him by default.
Uncle Mxy 02-28-2010, 09:41 AM hard to attempt shots with confidence when youre only playing 18 minutes and youre expected to score 20 points.
Bullshit! A real fucking player relishes the challenge. A real fucking player says "you better play me because I am the best and I can win games for you". The starting guards here are shooting 40% and don't have great 3P range and aren't significantly better at PG than BG would be.
Confidence? If he's lacking confidence, it's his own damn doing, not perceived expectations from others. He's nothing if not a proven scorer in this league.
Kstat 02-28-2010, 11:36 AM right. he should be throwing a temper tantrum and just launching bad shots at will, like rip did when he came off the bench.
Black Dynamite 02-28-2010, 12:31 PM hard to attempt shots with confidence when youre only playing 18 minutes and youre expected to score 20 points.
Rip eating up his minutes is taking shots from him by default.
1.) This is Ben Gordon, not Allen Iverson. His spike in pay as a backup was based on him catching fire no matter the minutes or placement of him. That's his rep, your favoritism is making a really lame excuse for a guy who dosn't need it.
2.)Gordon's minutes have very lil' to do with Rip, and more to do with his play. If he'd make plays on defense, stopped doing really dumb jump passes(i'm still baffled by the couple mid jump passes he's made over the last week instead of shooting it), and started doing what he's known for(popping shots with reckless abandon), he'd be on the court longer. Ben Gordon is a chucker, that's what he's paid to do, come off the bench and shoot. Until he gets back to doing that he'll continue to slump. And as long as he is helpless against the likes of salmons and every SG over 6ft 5in, he'll be a bench guy.
Black Dynamite 02-28-2010, 12:35 PM right. he should be throwing a temper tantrum and just launching bad shots at will, like rip did when he came off the bench.
Rip actually played fairly well, dont remember him going ape shit on the court.
And again Ben Gordon is used to the scenario, so why would he need to throw a tantrum? Stop adding wild garbage to the discussion. But yes he should be shooting bad shots, thats what Gordon does. Shoots shots that most shouldn't, like billups, barry, and most other sharp shooting chuckers. I'd settle for him making the open ones we've set him up for lately. :)
Kstat 02-28-2010, 02:19 PM If you think his game is predicated on that, you really have a very, very low understanding of the game of basketball in general.
And if you thought he was getting paid to be a backup here, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. This is a temporary situation until Joe can get rid of Rip.
Ben Gordon even when he came off the bench In Chicago played starters' minutes. He never played for 6 minutes at a time and sat back down again for another 12.
It doesn't matter who it is. Kobe Bryant would be struggling to pile up points if you only used him for one fucking quarter.
And despite all this, Gordon is still turning the ball over much less and shooting much better than Rip Hamilton, who remains the starter simply because the brass doesnt want him to bitch his way out of any future trades.
Uncle Mxy 02-28-2010, 04:03 PM Rip actually played fairly well, dont remember him going ape shit on the court.
Rip shot 44.7% as a starter.
Rip shot 44.7% off the bench.
He was really launching bad shots off the bench, yessir...
Rip's turnover rate is only about 10% higher than Ben's, and both are well within their career norms -- 2-and-change turnovers per 36 mpg.
<yawn>
Black Dynamite 02-28-2010, 11:28 PM If you think his game is predicated on that, you really have a very, very low understanding of the game of basketball in general
Yea, you've been the guru around here for awhile, or was it laughing stock?
Rip shot 44.7% as a starter.
Rip shot 44.7% off the bench.
He was really launching bad shots off the bench, yessir...
Damn, for a guy who's named Kstat, you sure do forget to check stats before you make enraged statements about who you waffled on to your hate list(which seems to be Rip now).
geerussell 03-01-2010, 02:05 AM To be fair, the jump-pass-for-a-turnover was Rip's signature move well before Gordon arrived.
Uncle Mxy 03-01-2010, 07:54 AM To be fair, the jump-pass-for-a-turnover was Rip's signature move well before Gordon arrived.
Ray Allen does that move, sometimes. It might be a UConn thing. OhandWadedoesit,too...
Vinny 03-03-2010, 08:53 PM Maxiell is our new starting center.
Glenn 03-03-2010, 09:14 PM Ben is just supposed to miss one game, isn't he?
I lol'd when Blaha/kelser were going on at the half about what a good job they did on D.Lee in the first half. His numbers projected to something like 18/16/8.
Pharaoh 03-04-2010, 07:25 AM David Lee with a monster game.
I won't use the word hindsight because that's wrong but FUCK!!!!
The guy is just having a phenomenal season and I don't see many people raving about him.
I understand it's partially due to the run, run, run, pass it to me so I can chuck it system but not everyone on that team is consistently putting up the kind of digits he is.
He must be averaging close to 20/10 with some assists thrown in.
Here's hoping he gets a monster contract from the Knicks in the off-season and proceeds to suck for the rest of his career
Tahoe 03-05-2010, 07:15 PM We're talkin Basketball here, not snuggies, basketball. Not snuggies. WTF is a snuggy anyway? Fuck snuggies. We're talking basketball here. fuckin snuggies, wtf?
Vinny 03-07-2010, 08:46 PM For chrissakes Tay.
Uncle Mxy 03-07-2010, 09:41 PM For chrissakes Tay.
He didn't get the "tank" memo. Good for him!
Vinny 03-07-2010, 09:58 PM He didn't get the "tank" memo. Good for him!
He tried, bricked 2 free throws with 11 seconds left in ot, up 2.
FatKid 03-08-2010, 03:48 AM another break out game for ben gordon.
Glenn 03-10-2010, 04:41 PM Utah put up like 130 on the Bulls last night. This should be fun.
Glenn 03-10-2010, 04:44 PM The Pistons, meanwhile, are searching for their first triumph against the Jazz since a 64-62 home victory on March 13, 2005.
lol
Glenn 03-10-2010, 05:33 PM ^I just owned one of the Jazz radio guys on Twitter with that tidbit, lol
Glenn 03-10-2010, 08:27 PM This is fun!
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Vinny 03-10-2010, 08:39 PM Isn't the season over yet??
Tahoe 03-10-2010, 08:58 PM JJ> Kirelinko Boozer Memo
Tahoe 03-12-2010, 08:59 PM You tell'em Kwame.
Tahoe 03-12-2010, 09:53 PM Thats the first longer range shot I've seen BG make in a while.
Tahoe 03-15-2010, 08:29 PM My guess is Tay won't be back this game.
Tahoe 03-15-2010, 08:50 PM WE SUCK
Hermy 03-15-2010, 09:09 PM Holy hell.
Tahoe 03-16-2010, 09:17 PM If we could only win 1 game a week against just 1 team, I'd have to say tonight wouldn't be a bad night or team to get that 1 win.
Tahoe 03-16-2010, 09:43 PM CV says LBJ who?
Tahoe 03-16-2010, 09:47 PM G's wife shakin it to that fish comersh.
Tahoe 03-16-2010, 09:49 PM Table shakin it to 8 straight.
Glenn 03-19-2010, 10:10 PM How about that Dujuan Summers?
I'd like to see him get some substantial PT the rest of the way so we can see what we have here.
Rip didn't look too pleased being planted on the bench tonight. Is he injured? If so, Kelser and Blaha sure didn't seem to know about it.
That could get interesting.
Rip = 19 minutes 0 points. That's your story.
Every starter in the minus, every backup in the plus... that's just weird.
Vinny 03-20-2010, 01:51 PM Every starter in the minus, every backup in the plus... that's just weird.
That's what having a $100,000,000 bench gets you.
Glenn 03-22-2010, 06:58 AM :we: 've lost 11 in a row to the Cavs.
FatKid 03-23-2010, 08:17 PM why is bynum starting?
Kstat 03-23-2010, 08:18 PM why is bynum starting?
because Indiana isnt good enough to beat us with Rodney Stuckey playing too much.
If Will Bynum starts, a loss is a sure thing.
This is a must-lose game, from the Pistons perspective. It might be the difference between the 5th pick and the 9th pick in the draft.
FatKid 03-23-2010, 08:42 PM Might be just me but besides rip and tay it just looks like we have an entire team of 6th men. All good role players but no game changers.
Kstat 03-23-2010, 08:45 PM Might be just me but besides rip and tay it just looks like we have an entire team of 6th men. All good role players but no game changers.
that pretty much sums up our 2004 championship team.
Uncle Mxy 03-23-2010, 08:47 PM Rip hasn't looked like a game changer in the past few games. He looks like someone shit in his wheaties.
Kstat 03-23-2010, 08:53 PM well, the more we run, the less he fits in.
Tahoe 03-23-2010, 08:59 PM Here's Blaha's quote, if I heard him correctly..."Stuckey is one of those new kind of PG that can create, but he can score too"
Uncle Mxy 03-23-2010, 09:11 PM Here's Blaha's quote, if I heard him correctly..."Stuckey is one of those new kind of PG that can create, but he can score too"
Blaha said much the same thing about Dumars.
"new" is a relative term.
Kstat 03-23-2010, 09:15 PM damn, Joe is really going grey fast.
Tahoe 03-23-2010, 09:16 PM Thats what I was laughing at mostly...'new'.
Cuz we all know Zeke couldn't create and he couldn't score either. These new type pgs are awesome.
Higherwarrior 03-23-2010, 09:29 PM we need this loss pretty badly. looks like our guys know it too.
FatKid 03-23-2010, 09:29 PM damn it i hate kwame, 7 feet tall and can't be bothered to put a hand in the face or up in the air.
Vinny 03-23-2010, 09:30 PM that pretty much sums up our 2004 championship team.
Now I've had enough. You're a fool, a moron and an absolute piece of garbage. You are everything that's wrong with sports fandom. In closing, go fuck yourself.
Kstat 03-23-2010, 09:33 PM ...so you're saying I'd make a good GOP candidate?
Tahoe 03-23-2010, 09:37 PM ^ hey, when all else fails, resort to GOP bashing.
Kstat 03-23-2010, 09:41 PM Can't bash something that parodies itself. It's like trying to kill a suicidal person.
FatKid 03-23-2010, 09:53 PM It is a touch silly to compare a championship winning team with 6 consecutive ECF appearances to the team we have now scraping to not finish only above the nets in the east.
They had a 4 time defensive player of the year, 4 all-stars, a 6th man of the year award winner, lindsey near his prime being a pest. I don't see the correlation between the 2 teams at all. But what do i know, im just a fat kid.
Kstat 03-23-2010, 09:58 PM it was a team of player that had major holes in their games. None of them were franchise-changes by themselves. Call it what you want, but that's the modern day definition of "role player." And yes, role players can be all-stars too.
Higherwarrior 03-23-2010, 09:59 PM if granger played all his games against us, he'd be a first ballot hall of famer.
Shoopy 03-23-2010, 10:09 PM We're even better at sucking than the Pacers. That's what she said.
Uncle Mxy 03-24-2010, 07:04 AM This thread title needs to be renamed to "tank."
Glenn 03-24-2010, 07:42 AM because Indiana isnt good enough to beat us with Rodney Stuckey playing too much.
If Will Bynum starts, a loss is a sure thing.
Nice perspective, as usual.
Geez, what happened after Bynum left the game?
Douche.
Kstat 03-24-2010, 12:26 PM Nice perspective, as usual.
Geez, what happened after Bynum left the game?
Douche.
Did Bynum start? Did we lose?
Ok then.
Uncle Mxy 03-24-2010, 12:38 PM Bynum's spineless back gave out on him, or else Earl Watson was gonna light him up for 50-60 points.
Kstat 03-24-2010, 12:40 PM I wouldn't have said that.
It would have been closer to 70.
Tahoe 03-28-2010, 06:21 PM Keus with an early T, JJ with a jammed finger, and George calls Kelser 'Special K' about 3 times already.
Glenn 03-28-2010, 06:23 PM Let's lose, er, do this!
Tahoe 03-28-2010, 06:39 PM Lets not get er done.
Bulls help out with 8 unanswered.
Tahoe 03-28-2010, 06:47 PM CV only off about a foot on that last shot.
Tahoe 03-28-2010, 06:48 PM BG only off about a foot on that last shot.
Tahoe 03-28-2010, 08:09 PM Guys Guys Guys...take a defensive possession off here and there.
Timone 03-31-2010, 08:50 PM can we even call these games anymore?
Tahoe 03-31-2010, 09:39 PM Daye got skillz
Glenn 03-31-2010, 10:00 PM can we even call these games anymore?
I think "indictment" or "condemnation" might be better terms.
Glenn 04-02-2010, 09:49 PM I could watch Big Ben, Jerebko and Bynum play all night.
At least some of our guys still care.
Timone 04-02-2010, 09:50 PM I could watch Big Ben, Jerebko and Bynum play all night.
At least some of our guys still care.
HOW BAD HAS HIS DEFENSE BEEN TONIGHT?
Glenn 04-02-2010, 09:50 PM He also caused the recession.
Timone 04-02-2010, 09:54 PM No, Vince McMahon did.
