View Full Version : OGT: MSU chokes vs. UM
Kstat 11-03-2007, 06:20 PM Henne now 1/52 on deep balls...
Manningham runs right by his guy every play, but it doesn't matter because an incompetent moron is throwing the ball.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 06:20 PM iirc, Hart was not the best cuz he lacked that break away speed and would get caught from behind. Ringer doesn't get caught from behind...cough cough cough
Who cares, it's taken Ringer til' his Junior year to rush for over 1000 yds...Hart has done it his entire career
Kstat 11-03-2007, 06:20 PM the statue goes down.
...this guy is better than Mallet because...
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 06:20 PM Henne now 1/52 on deep balls...
damnit
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:20 PM I'm with Zip on the upset.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 06:20 PM almost had a Theisman
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:22 PM If Sparty wasn't represented here by the likes of bukdow I wouldn't be hoping for Michigan to somehow win this game as much as I am right now.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:23 PM This will be bigge than Apple State.
UM should NEVER lose to MSU when MSU is in the position they are in. They are a shit team. Shit. And they are reeling from losing 4 out of 5.
Again we see another exhibit why Loyd Carr needs to go.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:23 PM not me, right now about 8000 cc's of cortizone are being directly inserted directly into mike hart's ankle with a horse syringe. he's so doped up you could rip his foot off and he'd keep running. a big d stand here and we're fine.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:24 PM Yeah, I could see that if they didn't completely forget how to stop the run.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:24 PM Delay of game.
xanadu 11-03-2007, 06:25 PM if a loss means the end of carr, so be it. any coach with a half-decent game plan can beat carr and his predictable play if safe bullshit. michigan should have put the game away in the first half, but carr put the brakes on.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 06:25 PM hopefully MSU goes on a penalty rage again...Henne needs all the help he can get
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 06:26 PM shit that was a huge 3rd down play
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:26 PM Who cares, it's taken Ringer til' his Junior year to rush for over 1000 yds...Hart has done it his entire career
BTW... My post was sparty talking.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 06:27 PM i know...i supplied supporting info
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:29 PM Yeah, this game's over. Unless, you know, they can be like State and stop them.
Kstat 11-03-2007, 06:29 PM Hoyer>Henne
The worst QB in the big 10 is outplaying the 2nd-worst.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:29 PM That Hoyer is triiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiicky. He must have 3 degrees.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:30 PM He reads Smithsonian.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:30 PM Game, bukdow is a fucking prophet.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:30 PM Wow. MSU imposing their will on Michigan.
Congratulations Sparty! Well done.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:31 PM Karma is such a bitch.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:31 PM I said it before and I'll say it again, too many missed opportunities in the first half. Things have a way of evening things out.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:32 PM Um, bring back John Navarre?
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:32 PM We lost this game more than they won. I know that might seem dumb as fuck, but we were fucking stupid and didn't capitalize on chances.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:33 PM Jamar Adams wanted no part of Caulcrick on that play. He takes on a blocker and watches Caulcrick dance into the end zone. Sorry defense on the goal line.
It's clear who wants this game more.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:35 PM fuck fuck fuck.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:36 PM This game reminds me of the OSU game...deja vu.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:36 PM LOL What a play.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:37 PM lol, good luck big tex. i heart mike hart, by the way. if we lose this game, it wont be cuz mike hart gave up.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:37 PM Is it possible to reach through the TV and punch these announcers?
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:38 PM Epic comeback?
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:38 PM FLAG!!
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:38 PM i dont know how people can give henne so much shit. yea, he was to blame for the first two games as much as many, but he is gutsy as hell. look out for the dancing bears.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:38 PM Dumb fucking penalty right there
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:40 PM Henne channeling his inner Brady?
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:40 PM NAVY BEATS NOTRE DAME! First time in 44 years.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:42 PM NAVY BEATS NOTRE DAME! First time in 44 years.
no shit, i was watching this into the 3rd ot and got distracted. i didnt think it was possible, but i almost feel bad for that fat fuck charlie weiss.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:42 PM Henne channeling his inner Brady?
MAILMAN:
GREAT insight! Brady was always at his best when Lloyd had no choice but to take the handcuffs off him and let him play. Henne has proven, through the years, that when you get desperate, and Lloyd can;t coach the game right out of you, that he can deliver.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:43 PM That throw did NOT, DID NOT, let me repeat, DID NOT FUCKING SUCK
That throw didn't suck
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:43 PM sparty is just begging the refs to open the door.... touch down!!!!
fuck the detractors, henne can qb for my team any day.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:43 PM I hope that wasn't sarcasm Zip...
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:44 PM Didn't one of them Sparties predict a 24-21 game?
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:44 PM Tahoe said it had the makings of a 24-21 game or some shit.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:45 PM I hope that wasn't sarcasm Zip...
Not at all. I'm on record as saying that Henne will make a great pro, because they have this tendency in the NFL to coach you UP, to let you play, to allow you to show off your talent.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:45 PM the defense need to stop looking at their feet and realize were still big time alive. a stop here and i love our chances.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:46 PM If the D showed up
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:46 PM Caulcrick channeling his inner Mike Hart.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:47 PM STOPPED HIM I JUST WET MY PANTS.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:47 PM big stop, can hart go?
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:48 PM 4 minute drill, just get us to OT and we should take these fools. id feel alot better if #20 was in and not #4.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:48 PM I think what Zip is refering to is the Michael Jordan syndrome. Now follow me boys and girls. MJ was NOT a huge star in college cuz he had to fit into a system. The system was not for individual play.
Henne will no longer have the handcuffs on in the pros.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:48 PM To answer the question posed earlier: THERE'S Adrian.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:49 PM I think what Zip is refering to is the Michael Jordan syndrome. Now follow me boys and girls. MJ was NOT a huge star in college cuz he had to fit into a system. The system was not for individual play.
Henne will no longer have the handcuffs on in the pros.
That's why I love you, Tahoe.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:49 PM Nice spot. I'll take it.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:50 PM Why the fuck go deep? Take the ten yard outs all the way down!
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:50 PM I have my moments Zip.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:50 PM MAN UP MARIO.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:51 PM wtf manningham? we dont need 58 second scores, we need 1st downs.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:51 PM Manningham, the man, "let me tiptoe out of bounds so I don't get hit"
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:52 PM holding penalty from Hell...
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:52 PM Third and 11:
I sense a six yard down and out to manningham. Book it.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:53 PM thats what im talking about.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:54 PM If Michigan pull this out I just may be like bukdow and go dunk myself in a tub of holy water...
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:54 PM ...and consider me a Chad Henne fan for LIFE.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:55 PM i cant believe to spartys sat on minor in our sideline and the white jerseys only watched.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:56 PM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:56 PM OMFG YES YES YEWS
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:56 PM CHAD HENNE IS A FUCKING WARRIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:56 PM Holy fucking shit.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:56 PM manningham just screemed FUCK TRE!
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:57 PM THERE IS A GOD
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:57 PM ...if they win, lol. BUT!!!!!!!!
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 06:57 PM When Lloyd can't coach Chad Henne, henne is at his best.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:57 PM Henne is a BEAST.
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:58 PM Henne channeling his inner Brady?
and here I am not very confident in that statement as I type it...
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 06:58 PM I'm not gay or anyting but that Manningham, he... I kind of like...he is a real... I'll get back to this later.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:58 PM not to jinx us, but i laugh at MSU's 2 minute drill.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 06:59 PM just please dont run the prevent...
Timone 11-03-2007, 06:59 PM You all realize we're just hanger onners at the end of the day right?
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 07:00 PM i just really wish we all would stop changing the subject: michigan lost to ASU.
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:01 PM Manningham went from being "THE" pussy to making "THE" catch in one drive, win OR lose.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 07:03 PM there we go. crable a jr?
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:03 PM I feel like the biggest bootlick at the end of the day here, pronouncing Michigan dead at 24-14. But thanks to diddy and Zip's assurance, I may have seen the light...
Crable's a senior.
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:05 PM ONE MORE STOP!!
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:05 PM I'm not gay or anything but that Morgan trent...
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:05 PM HAIL!!!!!!!
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 07:05 PM baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaallll game.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:06 PM Well thats the way the ball bounces fellas.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:06 PM Never in doubt really.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 07:07 PM would have been a big win for sparty, what with bowl chances running out. turns out, as mentioned by the announcers a bunch of times, kind of a meaningless game for UM. se le vi.
NEXT.
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:07 PM LOL HENNE FELL DOWN TRYING TO LEAP
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:07 PM Never in doubt really.
No shit. Who the fuck congratulated Sparty on a fine win too early?
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:08 PM Hail to the Victors Valiant
Hail to the conquering heros
Hail Hail to MICHIGAN
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:08 PM I hope there were alot of recroots in attendance for this one.
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:08 PM No shit. Who the fuck congratulated Sparty on a fine win too early?
Seriously, after I lay bukdow out in the streets of East Lansing when he does agree to show up and take me on like a man that cocksucker is next.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:09 PM I do congratulate their effort. But if you only have to get up for one game a year...who couldn't?
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:09 PM Am I the only one who saw Henne's fall?
Kstat 11-03-2007, 07:09 PM that last 7 minutes was typical Sparty.
I'll give Henne credit for digging himself out of the hole he put his team in, and thank god that he won't have to play OSU in Columbus this season.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:10 PM I still think Sparty needs to be congratulated on one HELL of a game. Dantonio can now reset the clock for next year.
I love the effort Sparty gave. They continue to show strides in character and growth. This one was another classic.
Of course, since Michigan won, it won;t make ESPN Classic.
b-diddy 11-03-2007, 07:10 PM atleast MSU didnt give up. msu might be 5 and 5, but theyre undefeated if you count moral victories.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:10 PM No shit. Who the fuck congratulated Sparty on a fine win too early?
I remember reading that and I took it as a joke. Was he being serious?
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:11 PM If you like football don't turn this A St vs Ducks game.
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 07:12 PM Can I post a disturbingly funny pic in the terrordome? Or does it have to go to the Champagne?
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:13 PM Who can raise the dead and make non-believers believe?
Chad Henne.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:14 PM Can I post a disturbingly funny pic in the terrordome? Or does it have to go to the Champagne?
Post it. The mods will move it if it is too gross.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:16 PM HAHAHAHA CLASSIC SPARTANS, I FUCKING LOVE IT, FUCK YOU DANTONIO, RESET YOUR CLOCK TO 365 DAYS SWEETHEART!!!!
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:16 PM All seriousness, hats off to State.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:17 PM Who can raise the dead and make non believers believe?
Chad Henne.
He's the new Jesus
Kstat 11-03-2007, 07:17 PM HAHAHAHA CLASSIC SPARTANS, I FUCKING LOVE IT, FUCK YOU DANTONIO, RESET YOUR CLOCK TO 365 DAYS SWEETHEART!!!!
shouldn't he re-set it to 730?
Or Maybe he should set the clock to 53 minutes, because that's all the Spartans played today...
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:17 PM HAHAHAHA CLASSIC SPARTANS, I FUCKING LOVE IT, FUCK YOU DANTONIO, RESET YOUR CLOCK TO 365 DAYS SWEETHEART!!!!
All seriousness, be a Michigan man, show some class.
jk
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:18 PM There are a few times when I'd like to change places with a younger guy. Today is one of them. I wish I was Chad Henne showing my knee bruise to four or five naked co eds tonight.

Tim now
Glenn 11-03-2007, 07:22 PM What a game.
The fact that the Sparties had it won and gagged makes this even more enjoyable.
Oddsmakers nailed that 4 point spread, FWIW
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:22 PM Which to you was more impressive: the comeback in '04 with Henne, Edwards, and co or the '07 comeback with Henne on one leg and with one shoulder?
Glenn 11-03-2007, 07:24 PM Tough 24 hours for MSU
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:24 PM bukdow's on! 3...2...1...
Kstat 11-03-2007, 07:25 PM Tough 24 hours for MSU
Compared to choking against Grand Valley State, choking to Michigan is a step up....
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:28 PM I've got to say that this one is the weetest of all. Somehow, if Lloyd woke up in a cold sweat and decided that life was a two minute drill, and he just needed to let Chad Henne go to work, UM might have accomplished something during Henne's Michigan career.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:40 PM All seriousness, be a Michigan man, show some class.
jk
I'm 19, I don't have class til' I'm allowed to drink
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:41 PM Which to you was more impressive: the comeback in '04 with Henne, Edwards, and co or the '07 comeback with Henne on one leg and with one shoulder?
definitely the 04 battle...watching Braylon in that game was special
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:42 PM Where in the hell were you during the game, Glenn?
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:44 PM Did you say you were 19? Um, can you, say, meet me at Lakeside mall, say, around 8:30?
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:44 PM http://assets.espn.go.com/media/apphoto/cdfe6b8d-8ceb-43a8-bad0-316edd79ce06.jpg
Next year he will be wearing #1
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:46 PM Manningham will leave for the NFL after this season. My guess is that he hasn;t attended a class since junior high.
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:46 PM Great find, Wil.
Kstat 11-03-2007, 07:47 PM on the bright side, between Nebraska/Kansas and Notre Dame/Navy, MSU's loss will get no national attention whatsoever...
Timone 11-03-2007, 07:47 PM I just may make it my desktop background.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:48 PM on the bright side, between Nebraska/Kansas and Notre Dame/Navy, MSU's loss will get no national attention whatsoever...
Agree, but it will get ALL of the local media attention...I can't wait to hear Valenti bitch and moan about not only the b-ball team losing but the football team gagging
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:49 PM Did Valenti go to MSU? I thought he was from Philadelphia. Is he just tenusously connected?
Kstat 11-03-2007, 07:50 PM Agree, but it will get ALL of the local media attention...I can't wait to hear Valenti bitch and moan about not only the b-ball team losing but the football team gagging
You kidding? The only time I ever listen to 1270 is to hear him bitch after an MSU loss. It's high comedy.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:50 PM Manningham will leave for the NFL after this season. My guess is that he hasn;t attended a class since junior high.
Think so??? I have a feeling he will come back, I think his year hasn't been THAT great, this year to be a 1st rounder, if he stayed another year, he'd be a legit 1st rounder...
plus Arrington & Mathews will be back next year, so Michigan would have a lot of weapons to take pressure off of Mallett
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:51 PM You kidding? The only time I ever listen to 1270 is to hear him bitch after an MSU loss. It's high comedy.
Ditto. Otherwise I can't stand him. He gives radio gold when he's in a bad mood.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:52 PM No shit Michigan will have weapons next year. Stonum is coming in and they have recrooted a couple of solid tight ends. They have a stockpile of receivers.
The trouble will be not being able to get the ball to Mike Hart.
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 07:53 PM Did Valenti go to MSU? I thought he was from Philadelphia. Is he just tenusously connected?
Yeah he went to MSU...hes from NY I think
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:57 PM Fuck a Valenti. When people in Omaha Nebraska laugh at you, you are some kind of pile of steaming shit.
Zip Goshboots 11-03-2007, 07:58 PM By the way, I'm going to check in on my old haunt, the Detroit News forum called Big Ten Talk. See ya in awhile.

You can hand it off to the gymnast from Tejas 30 times a game....
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 09:37 PM You can hand it off to the gymnast from Tejas 30 times a game....
Does a Les Miles offense ever give the ball to one person 30 times per game?
Tahoe 11-03-2007, 09:50 PM BTW...I'm about to rewatch the 4th quarter of the game and will be posting like I don't know the outcome.
But I will say going in that I might be a lil bit of a homer.
HipDigIt 11-03-2007, 09:50 PM Does a Les Miles offense ever give the ball to one person 30 times per game?
Has a Les Miles "O" ever had a gymnast of this magnitude?
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 09:51 PM all is good Tahoe, I already know the trama you were dealing with prior to the opening kick...
Wilfredo Ledezma 11-03-2007, 09:52 PM Has a Les Miles "O" ever had a gymnast of this magnitude?
He had Tatum Bell when he was at Okla State...does that count?
Tahoe 11-04-2007, 12:28 AM "How long will you bow down to the University of Michigan" Mark D'Antonio asked his squad.
MoTown 11-04-2007, 12:29 AM Am I the only one who saw Henne's fall?
I saw that. I was cracking up. The best part is he got back up and started jumping around again like nothing happened.
Did anyone else catch the Plaxico Burress interview? This is why chicks shouldn't have jobs at football games:
Bonnie: "Nice sunglasses! What are those for?"
Plaxico: "Umm... they're for keeping the sun out of my eyes..."
xanadu 11-04-2007, 12:42 AM Maybe I am too negative, but watching this team play with a lead drives me crazy. It seems like whenever they open up the offense and play aggressive they score, but they only do this if absolutely necssary. While Henne had some poor throws, I think he would be more consistent if he threw on downs other than 3rd when michigan has the lead. The michigan offense is easy to stop when the other teams knows that run-run-pass is coming. It kills me when commentators praise lloyd for his agressive play calling (e.g., illinois game) when they should really just point out that the offense playcalling should aggressive and unpredictable for the entire game. Michigan state played well in the second half, but michigan just seemed indifferent for most of the game even when they had the lead in the first half.
Anyways, it is ironic that msu has played um and osu as close as anyone, but is still 1-5 in conference.

Couldn't agree with you more X. Been saying that about U-M's offense and LLLLLLoyd for years. But with that said, I can't say enough about Henne and his performance today. To go out there with 3 injuries, make the throws that he did and lead us all the way back to a victory, I'd call it legendary.
Zip Goshboots 11-04-2007, 07:01 AM Yes, the stuff of legends, needing to lead your team to a last minute victory over a team that is horrible.

Glenn 11-04-2007, 07:05 AM BTW: does ANYONE on this board really think UM has a chance against Ohio State?
Is the correct answer "if Michigan's D shows up"?
Honestly, I give Michigan about a 10% chance of winning the game, but I'm only 40% certain of that.
OSU deserves to be #1, but I still don't think they are the best team in all of the land.
If UM plays it's best game of the year, they've got a puncher's chance.
b-diddy 11-04-2007, 09:19 AM "BTW: does ANYONE on this board really think UM has a chance against Ohio State?"
the fuck? i LOVE our chances vs osu. talk about overrated. that team aint special, and it aint number 1. if we had to go to the shoe, it'd be different.
but they have to come to the house. and they have to go up against two of the greatest gamers in UM history who are both 0-3 vs the rivals. yup, henne and hart are 0-6 in osu and bowl games and i'll call them among the best gamers ive seen.
was there ANY doubt when we were down 10 that hart would go back in the game? kellen winslow doesnt know what a soldier is compared to this guy.
osu can stop the javon ringers, it aint stopping a hart if hart is even close to healthy (cogent arrogance). and henne will have a field day w/ their overrated secondary. and i LOOOOVE how our D matches up w/ their O. 27-20 good guys.
ps whats the deal zip? youve been bad talking this team since we lost to ASU. you even said this team wasnt going to play 500 ball. maybe its time to reevaluate your opinion of lloyd. dude righted the ship when i'd say maybe 9 coaches in 10 would have lost the team. fools rush in. if lloyd leaves this year, it might be for the best. but we better be damn sure we're bringing in a premiere coach before we give him the axe. as hard as it is to believe for some, this program has a lot of room to fall.

Uh, no! The "Moonballs" into the end zone work like a charm.........against MSU DB's (see Braylon a few years ago) not so good with OSU's DB's who have actually been known to turn around before the whistle blows to see where the ball might be. There's a concept!!
If A2 wins it will be in the vein of the Boffo upset of the Tim Biaaakvcnbeyhgtndjnvghejjeuka senior year. OSU had like 100 #1 draft picks and TB has about 200 on them in the 1st half. I was in the house. What an ass kicking. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle twice. I'm skeptical.

This is shaping up for an Oregon-OSU NC. If so look for the Ducks to treat them just as shabbily as a team wearing Blue & orange did last year. Ducks are good and Dixon is the Hypeman Winner. He's a tremendous athlete. Too bad no one sees him play up there in the PAC NW.

Cogent.
I gave Lloyd major props after Illinois. I said if you gotta rip him for the other shit, you gotta give him (and the team) credit for the turnaround.
Yup, they could have packed it in. They won three games with Butterfingers Mallett at QB. Hart has missed two of them, and most of a third. They won them all. Henne is playing with one arm and one leg.
After the first two gmes, it looked as if this defense was going to be horrible, but they have responded very well also. They are playing the best pass defense I've seen out of UM since '97.
Having said all that, and even though I'm mostly over the first two losses, the fact is that they are sitting at 8-2 in a year that should have had much more promise. I can't add anything about those first two games that hasn't already been said, just that there is always something that UM fucks up on. And there always seems to be something that Lloyd can do when his nuts are in a sling.
We all want to talk about Oregon being great, but remember they lost on the road to a three loss California team also.
Oh well, what can you do? I've enjoyed these last eight games, and will enjoy the next three.
I really hope UM puts a strong emphasis on Wisconsin and wins that game, even though they can win yet another "co" championship if they lose it. In my opinion, this season will only be successful if they win out. Anything less, and you have a season that was blown up at the start, somehwat recovered from the knockdown, but couldn't finish the last part. And then you got Henne and Hart being forever known as the personal punching bags of the Buckeyes.
Lastly, what these last eight games have taught me is that there was NO excuse for Apple State, and to look so horrible against Oregon. That one hangs on Lloyd and Co, and in no way do I want this group back.
Artermis 11-04-2007, 01:51 PM Oregon is the best team I have seen this year.

umichjenks 11-08-2007, 02:29 PM HAHAHAHA CLASSIC SPARTANS, I FUCKING LOVE IT, FUCK YOU DANTONIO, RESET YOUR CLOCK TO 365 DAYS SWEETHEART!!!!
Hahah, I love it. As I watched the game in EL at my buddies house I was asked with 8 minutes left if I was worried and I just replied no. Henne is the man. He did miss Manningham on some open passes but the guy had a slight shoulder separation a few weeks ago. Henne is a beast, and I hope he does well the next 3 games so that his NFL stock isn't hurt by the first few games of this year.
One other thing I've noticed: State fans run their mouths so much before the game and during it, but when they lose (which happens a lot) they just act like they don't care. Such a cop out for State fans to rip on Michigan and then when they lose just reply "well we knew we would lose so we don't care". That's when they bring up App. State and their basketball team. Pathetic.
App. State was a terrible loss, no doubt about it. Guess what? Northwestern beat MSU. Duke had a 22 game losing streak and who did they beat? You guessed it, MSU. I'm not comparing the 2 losses at all, but State has lost some pathetic games where they choke (ND 2 yrs ago).

Dantonio learns a hard lesson
It wasn't good for Spartans coach to react what Hart said
Boy, this didn't take long. Mark Dantonio has been Michigan State's head coach less than a year, but he's settling in nicely.
Once again, the Spartans are displaying an uncanny knack for blowing games while expertly squandering chances to become bowl eligible. And now, Dantonio has publicly acknowledged what many in East Lansing have felt for years -- Michigan bears the approximate evilness of a nuclear-armed Iran.
As you might have heard, Michigan stunned Michigan State Saturday by maliciously and arrogantly continuing to play long after the giddy Spartans tapped the sideline kegs. Two days later, Dantonio riled up the state, cheered up his fans, pumped up the so-called rivalry, and singlehandedly turned around Michigan State's season by jutting his jaw and declaring that Mike Hart is kinda short.
For his next revelation, Dantonio is expected to point out that I'm kinda chubby.
Listen. We appreciate the tough task Dantonio faces, and we enjoy the passion he brings to Michigan's annual victory over Michigan State.
The Spartans did rebound from a miserable first half and essentially hammered the Wolverines, at least until the Wolverines took off the kid gloves (also known as little brother gloves) and opted to start throwing touchdown passes.
Afterward, Hart, who's so short he needed only one healthy ankle to rush for 110 yards against Michigan State, laughed and said Michigan was toying with its "little brother." To be fair, Hart should not have laughed. I also believe he misspoke, because the accepted term in Ann Arbor is "insecure little brother."
Apparently, being someone's little brother is a bad thing, although I'm not sure why. There are worse family relationships, such as "creepy uncle" or "afflicted cousin who plays the banjo in wooded areas."
Whatever. Hart's comments and Dantonio's retorts -- "If they want to mock us, I'm telling them, it's not over" -- turned into a football version of a "Yo' Momma" contest. It was amusing. And weird. And revealing.
Dantonio was so ticked off at being called a little brother, well, he sort of acted like one. Trying not to be obsessed with Michigan, he became more obsessed. Sources tell me that after Dantonio missed a practice this week, he was found, unshaven and mumbling, holed up in his office trying to beat Michigan on his Xbox 360.
While this is good for the rivalry, it's probably not good for Michigan State's season, which has crumbled with five losses in six games. Don't get me wrong. Michigan's arrogance would drive anyone crazy. It drove Nick Saban to Louisiana, John Cooper to retirement and Jim Harbaugh to diarrhea of the mouth.
And now it has Dantonio's head spinning. He even was upset Michigan players knelt after the game in a mock moment of silence (or in a reenactment of Michigan State's defensive stance the last seven minutes). They claim they were responding to Dantonio, who joked about a "moment of silence" after Michigan's loss to Appalachian State. Heck, with all the pregame talk about who should bow to whom, you could interpret the kneeling as a sign of respect, if you were drunk or delusional.
None of it really matters, not until we merrily dredge it up next year. If nothing else, the Spartans should be ecstatic the Wolverines finally stopped pretending the rivalry was a mere nuisance.
In the future, Dantonio should consider following the lead of his buddy, Jim Tressel, who reacts to Michigan by smiling like a preacher, smoothing his squirrelly sweater vest and whacking U-M with a big scarlet stick. In the meantime, the season continues, although I'm not sure Michigan State is totally into it, as you can tell by this fabricated team meeting, secretly recorded as always:
Dantonio: "All right men, time to focus. We have to get ready for, uh, shoot, I had it here a second ago." (Rifling through papers.) "Purdue. We gotta beat them somehow!"
Player One: "But how?
Player Two: "If Michigan doesn't respect us, how are we gonna make Purdue respect us?"
Dantonio: "Enough with the Michigan stuff! Did you guys do the assignment I gave you?"
Player One: "We did, coach. But how does watching 'Big Brother' on TV help us?"
Uh-oh, looks like the countdown clock is reset and ticking anew. I'm sure the Spartans will put aside all their frustration and valiantly salvage their season. Yep, I'm almost positive. Pick: Purdue 56-7
