This is why the Pacers are a fake contender until they change the makeup of that team:
Big ups to the Pacers for losing, but not getting blown out like they did at Charlotte and Phoenix. That's really something. It takes a lot of "guts" to lose like that. Pats on the back all the way around."I thought our guys showed a lot of guts hanging in, finding a way to claw back into the game," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "We got a couple of tough calls at the end, which were tough to take, but we all hung in and gave ourselves a chance. The way it went for the first 37-38 minutes, it didn't look like it was going to be much of a game. I liked the way we competed even though we were down."
The loss ended the Pacers' three-game winning streak and was just their second defeat in the past seven games. The road doesn't get easier for the Pacers; their next two games, against Dallas and San Antonio, are also on the road.
"We've had a couple of games this year, like at Charlotte and at Phoenix, where we got down 15 points and it snowballed to 20 or 25 points," Pacers forward Austin Croshere said. "To do that against a quality opponent is a big sign of character that we didn't just quit."
