Bigger UM QB bust: Mallett or Henson?

It pains me to start this but it needs to be put out there. Our biggest hyped QBs have turned out to be big time busts for Michigan. I add "for Michigan" because Mallett may go on to have a great career elsewhere.

I'm going with Henson to answer my own question. It just seems as though the hype was a bit bigger and his exit was more questionable.

curious as to what others have to say on this

Henson. Mallet played well for us.

If Pryor comes here, then all will work out well. If not, I may change my vote.
Phil Wenneck: The man purse. You actually gonna wear that or are you just fuckin' with me?
Alan Garner: It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

I don't remember Henson having a complete inability to handle a snap.
We had subs. It was crazy.

I have to go with Mallett. I mean, the kid started 3 games, completed just over 40% of his passes and showed a complete inability to handle a snap from center, and then decides to transfer.

At least Henson started 8 games, beat the Buckeyes at the 'shoe and led us to a rare bowl game victory.

I forgot Henson beat the Buckeyes. And its not like he left for another school. He left for a pro career, even if it wasn't in football. Mallett is more of a bust because he played mediocre then just up and left. Henson played well while he was here.

Although I picked Mallett, that was based on UM career only. At this point it looks like Mallett still has a very solid chance at becoming the better NFL player of the two.

I'm having a hard time with the question.

If it's "who is the bigger bust at Michigan" then it has to be Mallett, Henson accomplished more.

If it's "who is the bigger bust, period" then we don't have enough info to answer the question, yet.

How about Matt Gutierrez, if I recall correctly, he was as highly regarded coming out of De La Salle HS in Cali, as Mallett was...

Then again, injuries were his problem, not ego.

For now, I'll say Mallett, Henson won some pretty big games for us...plus he was just a better QB overall IMO.

I dont know if you can call either a bust per se. Maybe "who was the biggest dissapointment" or something like that.

Both players left because they sought better opportunities for themselves. I think if we try and compare apples to apples (which you cannot since they didnt play the same amount of games, etc.) we would have a better answer.

I would say that Henson was probably a bigger disappointment from the stand point that he was supposed to lead you guys to a championship in the early 2000's. If memory serves me you got stuck with Navarre after Henson bolted.

At least with Mallet leaving you have the opportunity to recruit Pryor and the expectations will not be as high for next season with all the defections tot he NFL, graduation, and coaching change.

    Famous Bill Walton quotes:

"Shaq's arrogance is an insult to people who think."

Bill: "What, Phoenix? Are they still paying you?"
    Jalen: "Yeah, under the table."
Bill: "Yeah, just like at Michigan."

“Oh my, Kobe is really putting on a show out there. He’s making Ray Allen look like a sixth grader!”
