Thread: Are the Pistons Done?

    Are the Pistons Done?

I think the [Pistons] run is about over, and no, it's not just because they lost to the [Pacers] last night and the [Bobcats] the night before.

I've seen them a few times this year and they just don't look like the "prime" [Pistons] anymore.

On top of that, now they are shutting down [insert next injured Piston].

I do look for them to sign a buyout player (ala Stoudemire, Cassell, etc) and possibly try to swing a deadline deal or two, but unless [Dumars] pulls something out of his ass, I think there are 3-4 teams in the [East], at least, that are superior.

It kinda worked for the Spurs...

That's actually a pretty accurate assessment.

    Brilliant, MoTown!

I still think talent prevails in the playoffs, and the Pistons still have more talent than Orlando.

They could be good for the ECF, but seeding will dictate how far they go.

Homecourt doesn't matter for a team like Detroit.

The Pistons were done before the season if DONE = no championship which is how Glenn uses it.

In the Spurs case, my definition of "DONE." was that they would not win another title with the existing "core group" (Duncan, Parker, Ginobili). Since Chauncey was indisputably part of the Pistons "core group" it would indeed be accurate to say that the Pistons are DONE winning championships with that core group (since it does't exist anymore).

Could they theorhetically still win a title with their new core group? Yes.

Then by your terms, Glenn, would you say the Celtics are 'DONE'?

Not at all. I consider KG, Allen & Pierce to be their core group, no reason they can't win another.

Maybe he assumes Posey or PJ Brown were part of their "core".

At least one of Sheed and Iverson are not going to be here next year so this "core" group won't be around long enough to win anything.
