What would it take to get Thabeet from Memphis?

Do we have what it would take? How much are you willing to give?

They have cap space, so they could absorb some salary.

Would they take Rip and a 1st?

Anybody know how much presumed cap room Memphis has?

Thabeet's salary is going to be around $5m, so I'm trying to figure out how much salary they'd be able to take in return.

If we took a bad contract off their hands, that might incent them to make a move like this, too.

    How about Rip ($10.8m) + a 1st for Thabeet (~$5m) and Jaric ($6.6m, 3yrs left)?

I don't like Jaric as a PG, but he might be able to make some plays for others at SG or SF.

He could also help at the 3 if we moved Tay in another deal.

This trade would actually give Memphis more cap room to work with, too.

    Stuckey/Bynum
    Gordon/Afflalo/Washington
    Tay/Jaric/Summers
    Charlie V./Dice/Max
    Thabeet/Kwame/Dice

Memphis just took on Randolph's salary, they aren't looking to shed money.

That might give them more reason to shed money, actually.

I like the idea GD, but wouldn't you rather get a proven player for Rip?

Maybe that deal for Brand we've talked about.

Or maybe we deal Rip to NY for David Lee and Jared Jeffries. That's a bit complicated due to Lee having BYC status after he signs his deal. Could it work? Is he the big we want?

Joe's got options and he needs to get moving. We're in dire need of some bigs and the names are gonna be off the board if he waits too long.

Memphis needs a shooting guard and has the ability to absorb Rips salary.

They also have at least four solid bigs (Gasol, Thabeet, Warrick & Randolph) and two projects (Arthur & Haddidi) and can spare one.

    It's a nice fit, IMO.

    That's harsh.

    BTW:

    Interesting stuff!
