Thread: democratic debate tonight!

  1. #1

    democratic debate tonight!

its on in 4 minutes (7pm central).

i want to see hilary throw the kitchen sink at obama.

gotta think she has SOMETHING planned tonight. barraks just trying to get through unscathed, she has to make a move... unless she really feals confident w/ latinos.

barrak's stance of "never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate" does seem a little naive, but i prefer his stance.

when you look at china going out and overtly trying to make friends accross the world, the united states cannot hope to just strong arm every country that gets in our way and think we'll always get what we want.

opening talks is a good first step.

Our policies on presidential access are rooted in cold war politics.

I missed Hillary's closing statement because I was reading some dumb post, what did she say? It seemed to garner a lot of applause...

i turned it off at 8:00, but nice exchange over healthcare. i thought barrak did a great job demonstrating why his plan is better.

She went teary eyed, explained about how her problems pale before the problems of others. Then she said "whatever happens, we'll be fine" to Obama, almost like the start of a concession speech.

Obama looked and sounded presidential throughout. I suspect that he hit on more Texas issues than Hillary. Obama is well served by having some opening speech rather than going straight to debating. It probably doesn't hurt to be on a big winning streak and in the driver's seat.

I don't think Hillary did what she needed to do overall, which was to get folks to take a second look at her, or force Obama into a gaffe. Her really good moment was at the end, but she had no substantive message to followup with. BTW, he ending was "plagiarized" from Bill Clinton circa 1992:

or if we're talking plagiarism, what about her "it takes a clinton to clean up after a bush". now technically, im not sure it constitutes because, as far as i know, no one has claimed it. but i doubt she wrote it, and it certainly was rehearsed and prepared for that debates, seeing how the answer contradicted the question.

to me thats the worst kind of plagiarism: pretend wit. i cant believe that line was as well recieved as it was.

That was some good TV, right there.
    Find a new slant.

Damn, I missed the debate. Oh well, I had grown tired of watching her dodge questions anyway.

Oh, and I said I hated her Clinton cleaning up after a Bush comment before. It's totally contradictory to her crap about how her administration will be totally different than Bill's.
Phil Wenneck: The man purse. You actually gonna wear that or are you just fuckin' with me?
Alan Garner: It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.
