Thread: Who's the leader of this team?

Who's the leader of this team?

That intangible is something that I feel like we're missing, with Chauncey's departure. Sheed was never born to be a leader of a team. I can't see AI as the leader either. Tayshaun's still to quiet and Rip's a great sidekick. Stuckey's too young...right? Can Dyess lead off the bench?

Any thoughts on this? I feel like this intangible is something we absolutely need if we're even going to pretend we're still a playoff threat.

I'm assuming Curry is not part of this discussion?

I think thats prolly a lot of the growing pains we're going through right now. We don't know who the leader really is. No one has stepped forward. That might be a good thing with this group.

Tayshaun is probably the closest thing to leader for us, but Stuckey will have to step into that role with him at some point if we are to get a better since of leadership from the players.

Stuckey may as well rise. Prince is an unspoken leader, for sure. Rip, Sheed, and Dice are all not leaders.

I don't think Afflalo can be a leader, but I hope to continue to see him get some PT to lead by hustle, defense, and example.

IMO Dyess is a lead by example guy on the court, very much our ben wallace in that regard. Problem is that he's not out on the floor setting that example enough.

I think our issue is that this team goes as whoever at pg goes. And for that reason alone your PG is supremely needed to be at least one of your leaders.

Which is why there's no leader on the team right now and there won't be one unless/until Stuckey grows into the position.

It didn't take long for Chris Paul and Tony Parker to "grow" into the position. Either you're a leader, or you're not.

I'm looking for a midseason trade to acquire such a leader, though I'd have no clue who.

There's no reason Stuckey can't be the leader. Age doesn't matter on this team -- if you can ball, the guys on the team will give you respect, as long you're not a pompous jerk.

Stuckey has showed, since moving into the starting lineup, that he's capable of running the show and making good decisions. His performance of late has been phenomenal, and honestly, if you don't think he's ready to lead, you're just not seeing the potential that is there. Heck, I'd dare say that he's been the leader of this team for a week or so now.
