    This is an interesting but moderately long read on how internet providers want to take over the internet and regulate what content is on there, charge for page views, emails and all sorts of stuff:

    LOL@Panic threads. The internet boomed when AOL came up with unlimited access for $20. Pre-AOL they charged per hour and had email limits.
