Maybe he's hurt? Usually when a guy has a drastic turnaround like this, he's hiding some injury. That, or, for a few years I've been thinking that the more batters saw him and his array of arm angles, the more he'd get hit. The league might just have finally caught up to him. Think Hideo Nomo.
