tRADE up TO GET HIM? i COULDN'T SEE ANY TEAMS LEFT IN rD 1 THAT WOULD HAVE TAKEN HIM. i'D HAVE TRADED up INTO THE SECOND ROUND AT BEST.
We ain't talkin' bout no Tom Brady here, folks.

They gave up a 2nd this year and a 1st next year, right?

That seems like a lot of give up, especially considering that they will probably be picking in the Top 10 next year too.

    NO SHIT H1 Man!
Is Quinn good enough to give up on a SURE top 5 pick next year? Hell no! Man, something is wrong in Cleveland. They must have been watching ESPN cry about Quinn for four hours and felt sorry for him.

I have a suspiscion that 5 years from now Cleveland will be praised for this move. If I'm wrong, fine, but they were aggressive and I can't blame them.
We had subs. It was crazy.

they were aggressive because he became severely cheaper at that lower pick. Meaning that they arent ready to pay him franchise blue chip money. Its good value, but way too much was gien up. Pay attention to whoever Dallas and where they are five years from now.

I highly doubt he would have still been there in the second round for them. Look at Detroit, we took Stanton. Do you really think if Quinn was there at our picks we wouldn't have taken him? Or at least traded that pick to Miami for them to take him? You can't take the chance that someone else might trade up and get him ahead of you. If you are that high on Quinn, then you have to be aggressive.

There are a few teams in the first that might have taken him anyway. Carolina has soured on Delhomme, Baltimore still needs a long term QB, Chicago could use a new QB as well. I'm not sure any of those teams would have passed on Quinn.

I'm not saying they paid a good price, I'm just saying that they were probably wise to go after him and not wait for him to slide more.
Phil Wenneck: The man purse. You actually gonna wear that or are you just fuckin' with me?
Alan Garner: It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

The price does seem high, but look at it this way...........

If they sucked next year with Charlie Frye they were looking at a top 5 pick........maybe they get lucky and get Brohm, but if they aren't and have to settle for the 2nd best QB (Booty, Henne or anyone else) they are going into 2009 with a rookie QB and may have a pissed off Winslow and Edwards by then, not to mention Romeo is fired for sure. Now there pick might still be top 5 or even 10 and they won't have it, but they will go into 2009 with the same coach, a 2nd year QB who presumably knows the system and a young nucleus minus Jamal Lewis that is potent. Long term it could be good IMO.
