The Gay Blade
Nobody worked harder than The King at being the best. In concert, he could grab the guitar, or just the mike, and the music flowed.
I bet you could have written words to accompany his farts. That's how great The King was.

I'm enjoying the thread Zip, I dig the king.
I have the box sets from the 50's, 60's, 70's (both volumes) and a bunch of other stuff too.
I've been to Graceland twice, and I even enjoy watching his movies.
Charro!!

I'm saving my pilgrimmage to Graceland for when the kids are gone and I can camp out there for a month or two.

It's almost sacriligious to wate these on my friggin' cable bill.
I'm not too sure Tupac Shakur or Biggie Smalls have a stamp.

NOT TO BE FUCKED WITH
That's because you have to be dead for over 10 years to be eligible for a stamp. When the first hip-hop stamp in the U.S. came out in 1999, they used a random breakdancing dude because the hip-hop crowd hadn't been offing each other as badly during the 1980s:
Of course, comparing Elvis to any genre of music is sort of apples to oranges. Most music in a given genre is crap, so Elvis is greater than any genre, and you don't have to wage a war on hip-hop in particular.

Seeing hip-hop celebrated on a fucking stamp does nothing at all but convince me that Nas is right and it is dead for sure.

Moxie:
You are right again. Hip Hop will collapse under the weight of its own ridiculousness.
It will also die out because unlike our parents and beyond, they actually LIKED the music they grew up with, and there is a whole generation of white people who are going to be embarrassed that they embraced this shit when they were young. They are going to be marked for life as having grown up listening to Justin Timberlake, and no matter how they try to run from it, their sons will always suspect them of being fags for just that reason.

The Gay Blade
Just look at The King. Playing the guitar, the mike, and the room all at the same time.

Some question whther The King really died back in 1977. This is clear evidence that he did.
We're quite sure that if Elvis was still alive, he would not have a "camel toe".
