Do you have plumbing you don't want to have softened (e.g. a sprinkler system)?

I paid Culligan's to do their thing, but my adventures in plumbing go as far as installing toilets and random acts of caulking.
If a water softener fell from the sky, I'd duck.
It's old. I have no idea what I'm doing. Any estimate on what calling someone will cost assuming it's something simple?? I am new to doing anything but calling the landlord.

That's probably for the best. A water softener is something you will probably want to leave behind.
Storing/selling/moving/fitting in a new place are all challenges, AFAICT.

I have no idea of how much just an install costs. I got the whole thing from Culligan's. Fire and forget.
I probably should've gone for a water conditioner rather than a softener.

I'd be tempted to cut a deal with the landlord. Say, one of you pays for the softener, the other pays for the salt.
it benefits both of you, especially if the lack of one is causing corrosion.

I think I’d rip it out and put a tankless water heater in its place.
    Find a new slant.

Google Maps has "33 Bob Seger Drive, the new address for Pine Knob/DTE Energy Music Theater, misspelled as "33 Bob Segar Drive".

I found this totally at random. I submitted a request to Google Maps to fix it. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for keeping Google honest, they deserve some humility.

Google is placing new restrictions on which Android apps can track your location in the background, with a new review process that will check whether an app definitely needs access to the data.
    This shit makes me laugh.

On my Android phone, the app that ties up Location Services/GPS the most *is* Google Play Services.
A few times, I've had to clear out the Google Play Services cache just to get the GPS to stop lighting.
And yes, it's Google Play Services itself, not a third-party app, as confirmed by booting into Safe Mode.
