    Official MLB Links thread

Here's a few to get started. Chime in with whatever you've got and then I'll try and condense them all into a master list later:

    Official MLB Sites

    www.MLB.com
Official Website of Major League Baseball
    www.detroittigers.com
Official Website of the Detroit Tigers
    http://mlbplayers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/pa/index.jsp
    Major League Baseball Players Association
    Contracts/Salary Info

    Stats and Reference

    http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/
    Official site of the HOF.

Haven't checked this out much but it looks like it's got some interesting stuff.
    www.baseballreference.com
Has historic baseball stats for most any team going back over 100 years. Lots of interesting stuff here.
    http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players
Yahoo's individual player stats. Lot's of in depth stats including batter vs pitcher, splits against different teams, day/night, by month, etc. This is my favorite spot for individual stats but it's only for active players.

    Yahoo's general/team stats.
    http://ballparks.com/
Info on all the parks, past and present.
    Analysis

    www.baseballprospectus.com
These guys get alot of flack for being too stat-head oriented, but they do put alot of thought into team-building, etc. Most of the site's pay stuff but they do have daily free articles.
    http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/

    http://www.hardballtimes.com/

    http://baseballanalysts.com/

    http://blog.swingtraining.net/

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/
    SI's MLB page, mostly free.
    http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb
Yahoo's MLB page, it's gotten better and better over the years. They have their own writers now, though they still get most of their stuff from SI and Sporting News. Good, quick loading scoreboard, etc.
    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/front.htm
They cover the whole league pretty well and have extensive chats for fantasy and the like.
    http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb
    Self-explanatory, I think.
    http://www.sportsline.com/mlb
You know the drill. They have alot of their own content.

MLB's official minors site. Stats, standings for all the teams.

    Baseball Almanac

Many of you probably already know this site, but if you don't, check out the "Fabulous Feats" section. Interesting how the game has changed over the years.

ESPN came up with some sort of player ranking...

    Magglio is #1 right now:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playerrating
Phil Wenneck: The man purse. You actually gonna wear that or are you just fuckin' with me?
Alan Garner: It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

We're the only team with 2 guys in the top 10. Sheff is #8

You can sort that list as well. For example, just pitching. For all the hype our pitching staff has gotten the past year and a half, it's a little surprising that we only have two pitchers in the top 50 (top 50 pitchers, not top 50 overall) with Verlander at 33 and Bonderman just barely making it at 49. In the overall list, Verlander is the only Tiger pitcher to make it at #92. Other Tigers to make the list are Polanco, Granderson and Guillen, in that order.
We had subs. It was crazy.

They also do all star projections purely on stats/ratings, with the votes out of the equation. That is interesting too. Maggs, Sheff and Polanco would make it, but not Pudge (based on numbers).

If ESPN updates that ranking on a regular basis, you have to believe the no-hitter will vault Verlander up in the rankings. The 12 strikeouts won't hurt either. That should put him in the top 30 or so in the entire league for strikeouts and the top 15 in the league for ERA, plus the top 20 in wins.

They do update it, I just checked, and Verlander shot up to #34 overall and the #9 pitcher.
