This "one rule" becomes the apple in the Garden of Eden. Maybe there should be more rules, so when members want to push their luck, they can do so without "crossing the line" in ban-able offences. It's like most parents know their underage kids drink, but realize that if their kids think they are getting away with something, they're a lot less likely to try and push their luck in other areas. It's always about pushing boundaries, and if the parents condones the drinking, the kids would move on to something "they're not allowed to do". It's the same thing with speeding - Police you let people get away with it for the most part, if it is within reason because it gives the citizen the feeling like they are getting away with something and are thumbing their nose at the man. If you rigorously enforced the speed limit rule(or any rule for that matter) people would begin to feel oppressed, and it would build up without an outlet.

You should also close down the Terrordome, it dones nothing but encourage this kind of stuff. If people have personal issues, use the PM feature. What exactly is the point of making a argument into a spectator sport - when both sides feel the need to play the crowd and save face?

Also airing this dirty laundry and punishment is ridiculous. It's rather petty actually considering we all know who's board it is. It's like radio show hosts who hang up on the caller and then slam the guy.

It's pretty simple.

We're not stopping people from swearing, or posting about politics or anything like that. We encourage heated debate.

What we don't encourage is personal attacks. Yes, I'm aware of the Terrordome and how it seems to go against that statement. But taking part in the Dome is a personal choice.

Using racial slurs, insults etc is not a fucking choice. Posters only use them to "flip off" the Syndicate.

So, if you flip us off, what should we do? We've given a ton of warnings about it and we have 1 guy who doesn't seem to care.

So, if that's his position on the subject then he needs to be aware of the consequences.

BTW, how does making more rules help us? Why make a whole host of rules just to prevent people pushing the race issue?

Anthony is a decent guy IMO. He's helped me out numerous times in the past. In return I have supported him behind closed doors numerous times.

But he's taking this thing too far and I'm fucking tired of it. And so are some other Syndicate members. Either he stops the shit or I stop it.

The fact is this public warning from me was done in an effort to get him to stop this shit, change his sig and go back to being the regular AG. I don't want to ban him. I don't want him suspended. I just want him to leave the race shit alone.

As far as the public flogging, we decided when we started the site that we weren't going to go the route of the "backroom dealings" that went on at RGM, you know the "you are on thin ice, check your PMs". Truth be told, if this was being handled like it was at RGM, your post wouldn't even be here anymore. Any board-related issue that was deemed too controversial always had a way of "disappearing".

We decided to hash board issues out in public for the most part, that way people can have a pretty firm grasp on what is acceptable, what isn't, and what the consequences are if the rules are violated.

He's right. There's more than one rule. We really need to find the new poster announcement from the old WTF and post it here, or re-write the current (crappy) one.

The rules are pretty simple.

1. No racial/ethnic insults - context is important;

2. No spamming - self explanatory. However, please note that you can pimp your site or product as long as you are a contributor. People who post ONLY to pimp their stuff will be banned (see 100ReasonsWeLoveRa);

3. No misappropriation of personal information (see Mikey and UC);

4. No illegal activity;

5. Use common sense;

6. No chasing posters around from thread to thread to argue with, belittle, or insult them.

7. No instigating other posters to break any of the above rules.
