    Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

OK, I don't know where the other thread went, but I'm still playing this game, and I'm sure a few other people who visit this forum are too, so I'm starting this thread back up.

Right now, I'm level 20 overall, and I just hit level 25 in Mysticism, so I'm able to cast Soul Trap, but I don't have the soul gems that I need to capture the souls to enchant and recharge. Does anyone know some good locations to get soul gems, preferably the big ones?

Best soul gem in the game is Azura's Star. You need to find her shrine, which is NE of Cheydinhal. Be sure to bring some Glow Dust. It's rare, so if you need any help finding it PM me or post it here. Once there, you'll have to summon her. I believe you have to offer the dust at dawn of dusk, but I can't remember for sure. Some guy there, a Dark Elf I believe, will give you the specifics. Then she'll give you a quest to kill 5 of her followers who were infected with porphyric hemophilia aka vampires so you'll want to bring some cure disease potions if you don't want it. Anyways, you clear them out and when you get back to her she hooks you up with Azura's Star, a grand soul gem that is reusuable. Hope that helps.

How did I know that my boy Comrade would be the one to hook me up with some info? But I am going to have to ask you where to get the Glow Dust. Thanks man.

Alright, here are a few ways to get it. First, you can get it off Wisps. You can guarantee running into them in both the Main Quest and the Fighter's Guild quests. If you've already did those and sold or left the dust, then you can try buying it off Alchemists. It's really rare though. But, I just spent the last hour or so trying to find a place I can guarantee it will be and I did. Goto the Bruma Mages Guild and it will be on a table in the NW room of the basement. Polish,

The best weapons I have found are the Daedric weapons you get from completing the Daedric quests. Check out the shrines and make the appropriate offering to do the quest. The best weapon I've found so far is Goldbrand (it's a samurai sword that deals 19 damage +22 in fire damage when charged), which I got from completing Boethia's quest, but have have to be level 20 to be able to do it. You have to fight 10 warriors in Oblivion and if you have tons of room in your inventory you can get some other cool weapons and Daedric armor. Another one that gives you a good weapon is Sanguine's quest. You get the Sanguine Rose which is a staff that lets you summon this huge icy dude when charged. Super tight!

    Check it out kiiiiiiiid!

    Comrade,

Thanks for the info on getting Azura's star. I just got it and I would have had no clue what to do without your post. Do you have any tips on capturing souls? I'll have a Grand Soul Gem, I'll capture a soul in it and it will say "lesser". Then I try to capture something else in there, and it says I don't have a big enough Soul gem to capture the soul. Then I'll try to go and recharge a weapon, and I'll only be able to use like 300 points. That's just not getting it done. Any advice?

You need to find something badass enough to fill it. Liches, Minotaur Lords, Gloom Wraiths, and the Daedra that starts with an X (Xivali or something) all can. 2 out of those 4 are Undead, so an Undead dungeon would be your best bet. If you're level 20+, you should be seeing these guys often. If you need help finding any Undead dungeons just post it here.

Anyone know if they released any new mods to put the AI back to where the developers wanted it to be? The AI in this game is sooooo underwhelming compared to what it was initially supposed to be. Apparently they dumbed it WAY down because the worl became too chaotic and NPC were running amok (sounds baddass to me). I've heard they're working on some mods to restore it to it's intelligent state.

Check out Lyrondor's Combat Behavior Mod, Attack and Hide, No Psychic Guards Harder, and Natural Wildlife. They all do some nice tweaking and get the AI to a more realistic state.
