    AUBURN HILLS, Mich.
    – The Detroit Pistons and WNBA Detroit Shock will host a three-on-three outdoor basketball tournament the weekend of July 15 and 16 as part of their 2006 Year Round Hoops initiative. Capping off the weekend, the Shock will host the San Antonio Silver Stars on Sunday, July 16 at 5:00 p.m.
    The Tournament will be held in the parking lot of The Palace of Auburn Hills and various age and skill levels are encouraged to participate. Teams will be made up of four players, three starters and a sub, and the cost for a team is $100.00 if teams sign up on or before July 2, 2006. Teams signing up after July 2, 2006 will pay $125.00 and teams signing up for the Corporate Division will pay $250.00, with a portion of the proceeds going to local charities. Entry forms are due by 6:00 p.m., July 7, 2006. Play begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15.
    Each team member receives a Tournament Packet that includes a Tournament t-shirt, one ticket to the Shock vs. Silver Stars game on July 16 at 5:00 p.m. and information about the Tournament. The top two winning teams in each division will receive trophies and will be recognized on-court at the game. The first place team in each division will also receive a Pistons/Shock prize pack for each member of their team. Trophies will also be given to winners of the consolation division.
    Male and female teams will be available in various divisions: 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, 16 & Under, 18 & Under, Adult Recreational, Adult Competitive, Adult Top Gun and Corporate Challenge. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games for the weekend. There will also be a Three-Point Shootout and a Dunk Contest open to all participants.
    Each court will have a referee. Games will be played to 15 points with one point awarded for a made basket and two points for a made basket behind the two-point arc. Possession will alternate after made baskets.
    The Detroit Shock face the Minnesota Lynx and the WNBA’s 2006 Number One Draft Pick Seimone Augustus on Opening Night at The Palace on Wednesday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m.
    Year Round Hoops is a Detroit Pistons and Detroit Shock initiative that provides basketball entertainment activities such as the Back in School. Back to Work program, the YRH Basement Experts Truck Tour and the 3-on-3 Tournment.
