As a total counterpoint to Zip, I'd recommend watching Little Miss Sunshine:

    http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0449059/

This movie seriously rocks, even though it stars one of those kid actors that usually make me throw the remote at the TV. It does a neat job of balancing drama and comedy. Steve Carell plays a gay guy which plays into a funny joke or two, but without fixating on it. And, if you want some good swearing, Alan Arkin kicks ass, but in a feisty old-guy way. Imagine crossing the types of serious movies Bill Murray makes these days with Chevy Chase's Vacation.

It was a nice way to get my mind off the past couple Pistons losses.

The wife and I rented My Super Ex-Girlfriend yesterday. WASTE OF TIME. That movie was terrible. It was so slow and boring. Too bad it wasn't someone hotter than Uma Thurman too (never been a big fan of hers), although the girl from scary movie wasn't bad looking (if you ignore her face).
Phil Wenneck: The man purse. You actually gonna wear that or are you just fuckin' with me?
Alan Garner: It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

Just saw a french action movie by Luc Besson called District B13.

It was much better than I expected. Its like a french Jackie Chan/Tony Jaa movie. The stunts were ridiculously acrobatic and entertaining. the story was mediocre, which is better than the stories on those tony jaa movies. More than watchable all the way around.

    Synopsis.
In 2010, the dangerous districts in the periphery of Paris are surrounded by walls, and the dwellers do not have school, hospital and even police in the area, which are ruled by drug lords. In the 13th District, Leito is a honest man that lives in a clean building and does not permit drug dealers nearby his neighborhood. When he destroys one million Euros in heroin of Taha Bemamud, the criminal abducts Leito's sister Lola and the corrupt police arrests Leito. Six months later, the tough and honest Capt. Damien Tomaso is assigned to find and deactivate a stolen bomb that might destroy the 13th District and the two million dwellers. Together with Leito, they have to face the gang of Taha and disclose a despicable secret behind the robbery of the bomb.
background on the chick that stars in the movie.

errrrrrrr all other pics were a little too racy.

Notable roles Lola in Banlieue 13

Dany Verissimo (born Dany Malalatiana Terence Petit on June 27, 1982 in France, porn actress name Ally Mac Tyana) is an actress and an ex-pornographic actress and model.

Although Verissimo grew up in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, she did much travelling during her youth -- given that her father was the financial director of Air France. At 17, she eventually was kicked out of her mother's house because of a misunderstanding with her new stepfather and attempted to pursue a career as a film actress. After many deceptions and not enough money to afford an Actor's famous school she entered the French porn industry when she was 18 and a half. Thereafter, she began her sixteen month stint in the industry, mainly in the form of a pornographic model during 2001 and 2002. During this time, she called herself "Ally Mac Tyana", which was a spin on the name Ally McBeal, during her work on the 2001 television series XX elles. She left the porn industry just after she got married.

Finally, she landed a role as Lola in 2004's Banlieue 13, role made for her by Luc Besson himself.

After a painful divorce in 2005, she still pursues her career as an actress and model : she recently landed role as Belkis in C'est Gradiva qui vous appelle the latest film directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet which was shown out of competition at the Venice Film Festival in September 2006.

In May 2006, in the ELLE magazine for the Special Cannes Edition she was recognized as one of the new upcoming actresses.

Heh -- I just saw it over the weekend myself. I liked it a little more than you did, but only a little. It's a great concept, but a so-so execution at best. A comic-book-savvy director like Robert Rodriguez or Kevin Smith would've made it kickass. Perhaps just someone from Sex In The City-land who could do neurotic couplings better, turned it into something like the Luna Brothers' Ultra comic, would've made it work better. I dunno. It's not totally horrible, and maybe I have a slightly higher impression of Uma than you do, but it's not "must watch" by any means.

For hottie superbabes and a better movie, definitely go with Sky High.

The beginning was fine, but I guess I was let down because the movie claimed to be laugh out loud funny. There were only a handful of jokes in the movie. I thought the concept was good, but it should have been funny. I also thought the shark scene was pretty lame (it looked totally fabricated and unrealistic, because it is). They would have been better served to have her get "revenge" in some more realistic and funny manner.

I just watched "An Inconvenient Truth" last night. I think this movie is a MUST SEE. I'm sure a lot of people will not watch it because they don't like Al Gore, but that would be a huge mistake. Like him or not as a politician, he is a good speaker in this movie and a very intellegent guy. The movie is basically about Global Warming, and the statistics, graphs, pictures, etc are mind blowing really. Anyone that doesn't watch this because of Gore is basically being ignorant. I believed in global warming before seeing this, but the acceleration that is taking place even staggers the scientists studying this stuff. There is one scene were Gore talks about losing the election and how it changed his life (from running for office to focusing on helping the earth), but there really isn't any other politics involved. He doesn't refer to any party affiliations or anything.

Heck, even if you already believe it's a problem, you can learn a lot and see cool images of the earth from space, etc. There are actually a couple funny parts too.

Yeah, I definitely think this is a problem, and when it came out I was a bit peaved of all the people rejecting it solely based on Al Gore.

I split the Global Warming conversation off into a new thread so we can keep this thread mostly about reviews:

Watching Blood Diamond thanks to Glenn

Amazing movie, one of the better RECENT movies I have seen. I love the story line and the acting that is done by Leanardo DiCaprio and

There's one bad side to this and it's romance. Fuck the romance it doesnt fit in this movie although it isn't a big factor in the movie, i just dont like it.

Cross, I agree with you. I can't see the sparks between Leonardo and the other guy in your picture there. That guy was good in Gladiator, I'll admit, but I can't picture a romance between him and DiCaprio. It might have been more appropriate for the makers of Gladiator to have a romance between him and Russell Crowe's character. I mean, with it being about Rome and all, and who knows, in a period piece, the spirit might have swept over the cast, and a romance between Crowe and that guy wouldn't have even been acting! And, at least there it wouldn't be gratuitous. But, as we saw with Titanic, apparently you can't make a movie with DiCaprio unless he's making love to someone.
But HEY! Who am I to judge, Hollywood had success with Brokeback Mountain, so if it works, I guess they'll go with a tried and true formula.
