Rnd 1 Wings vs Oilers Series Thread

Only a couple of our supposed stars really showed up in this series. The Wings have a bunch of young talent but a bunch of guys have to go:

Robert Lang - invisible in the playoffs
Chris Chelios - old and ineffective
Brendan Shanahan - non-factor in the playoffs
Manny Legace (as a starter) - mediocre in the playoffs
Chris Osgood - old and not very good
Steve Yzerman - still had the heart, just too old and injury prone

I agree.

We could probably still win it next year with a solid FA.

^all those players but Cheli should be gone next year. Cheli signed for extremely cheap and he's a very good penalty killer and solid D. He shouldn't be our 2nd best D, which he is right now. He should be a good 3rd unit D. I'd like to see him back, but he shouldn't be counted on.

I'm fairly certain that it was. What a horrible way for one of the best players of all time to go out. I'm speachless.

Its better than the way he almost went out last time.

That's true. I still remember seeing pictures of what his eye looked like afterwords. Wow.
