Thread: 72 wins is not realistic

  1. #11
    I agree with NQ.

But I dont think 70 is going to happen.

But fact is, this team has been sleep walking though most of those 30 wins. They've only turned it on for a little bit during the season. This team is going to be scarry good.

I'm not saying it can't or won't be done... but

Problems - 4 games in 5 nights and other scheduling issues:

    1/31 New Jersey
    2/1 - vs. Minnesota, 7:30 PM
    2/3 - at Philadelphia, 8:00 PM
    2/4 - at Indiana, 8:00 PM

    2/24 - at Chicago, 8:30 PM
    2/26 - vs. Cleveland, 12:00 PM
    2/27 - at Cleveland, 7:00 PM
    3/1 - at Denver, 9:00 PM

And 4 games in 6 nights:

    1/22 - vs. Houston, 6:00 PM
    1/24 - at Minnesota, 8:00 PM
    1/25 - vs. Milwaukee, 7:30 PM
    1/27 - vs. Memphis, 8:00 PM

    4/14 - at Toronto, 7:00 PM
    4/16 - vs. New York, 6:00 PM
    4/17 - at Milwaukee, 8:00 PM
    4/19 - vs. Washington, 7:30 PM

How about 5 games in 7 nights:

    2/7 - at Atlanta, 7:00 PM
    2/8 - vs. LA Clippers, 7:30 PM
    2/10 - at Orlando, 7:00 PM
    2/12 - at Miami, 3:30 PM
    2/14 - vs. New Jersey, 7:30 PM

    2/21 - vs. Atlanta, 7:30 PM
    2/23 - vs. Indiana, 8:00 PM
    2/24 - at Chicago, 8:30 PM
    2/26 - vs. Cleveland, 12:00 PM
    2/27 - at Cleveland, 7:00 PM

    70 wins?

Delfino, Mo, and Arroyo better come through (Hunter, too, if he ever comes back and gets regular season minutes).

I personally don't give a shit about 70 wins. It'd be nice, but I want the 'chip and a severe and brutal raping of Miami in the ECF.

My only point is this team is most certainly capable of it, and I laugh my ass off when people wonder if they can keep this level of play up for the rest of the year. This isn't some fluke run. The scariest part is that this is a team that's still not in top form yet.

70 wins isn't going to happen but we are almost at the point (Maybe we already are) where barring any injury's for us, Miami could win every game the rest of the year and still not catch us.

    That, my friends, is scary.

70 wins may or may not happen - not 72 for sure. But as long as they are healthy, on a nice run, and confident going into the playoffs, it will be better than last year, where we should've won in 6 and almost won in 7.

Either way, we've got home court through the Eastern Conference, at the very least - a nice advantage > last year, where we won in Miami in game 7, and then went right to SA with tired legs/minds.

And I think we'll lock up home court vs. the entire league - whether that's 60 wins, or 63, or 65, or 67, or 70.

Either way, as long as this tean doesn't overlook an early playoof matchup - they're nearly a lock to win it al.

On that one: Anyone going to Vegas that can place a bet on my Pistons to win it all?

    Anthony is that you?

It's a little too late to bet on the Pistons in Vegas. The odds are like 8-5 right now in Vegas. I love this team and am very confident but I'd need at least 2-1 for me to put my money down.

Our goal should be securing homecourt advantage and developing the bench not going for 70 wins. I am sure we could win 70+ games if we really want to but that would mean we would be playing our starters 38+ minutes a night. I would rather win 60 games and have the starters ready and rested than win 70 games and have the starters exhausted going into the playoffs.

Hopefully by the time we get to 70-75 games, homecourt will be decided and we can start resting our starters. I wouldn't mind if our bench got some starts at the end of the season.

I agree. I dont really care if we get 70 as long as we get enough to rape the league. Our starters will be tired if we try to go for that and we will get worn down in the playoffs.

    + Spelling Correction
A new button on the toolbar allows you to use Google's spell check technology on any web form. For example, you can now spell check your work if you use many web-based e-mail service like Gmail. (-: When you're ready to spell check, click the "check" button on the toolbar. If an incorrect spelling is detected, the word will be highlighted in red. Click the link and corrected spellings are suggested. It's also possible at this point to edit the word (a box will surround the term) or add the term to your personal spell check dictionary. If you select a corrected spelling, the term turns green and you're on to the next word. Click again to turn off the spell check. This feature should get the Google "as an operating system" people talking.
