I went to the preseason scrimmage. It was a 4 quarter, 48 minute game, quite different than the drills and meet & greet. It had more of an untelevised preseason gave vibe. The Blue team had Dre and Blake, while the Grey team (labeled as "White" but it was grey damnit) were mostly second-stringers.

RJ was wearing long-sleeve sweats/pants and didn't look like he was gonna play wearing that, but he did, and seemed mobile. He was grounded hard by a foul and came right back up. The PG action was mostly "get others involved", so hard to conclude what kind of scoring threat he might be. I was told reliably that he's eaten at the famous Angelo's ("where the service is tops") every day. Today he had steak and eggs to go, because he had to be in early for the scrimmage.

Dre made a three-point shot, continued to have his FT form, and was in good spirits. He played well in the first half, but (consciously) goofed off more in the second half of the game -- threw his shoes as souvenirs out, was lying on the bench near Mason and in stocking feet the rest of the game.

Galloway can still shoot the rock some times. Stanley can't most times. Likewise, Ellenson ain't making it as an NBA player if this is any indication. You could tell this just from shootaround, even.

Leuer didn't play many minutes at all, but he did play. He seems to have lost weight.

Bullock seems to have a mild cold, didn't do much.

Blake was acting like a stretch 4. I get the feeling that he needed to have a dunk or other flashy play called for him. He only really seemed into it when he was challenging a rookie big.

Zaza's gonna piss people off with goon antics. I'm pretty sure he wanted to tell the lady ref that she needed her eyes examined.

They hazed the training campers/rookies by having them wear pink backpacks, and had Lofton singing Beyonce in Crisler Arena (which wasn't close to capacity) because he didn't have his backpack along with the rest.

The Pistons are handing out these things for preseason upper level tickets -- you go to pistons.com/preseason and use "PRESEASON" as a code. But, there were no tickets available. Sheesh.

Our two draft picks this year were unmemorable on the court. Big Dog's kid had a moment, and that was about it.
