On that line of thought, Primoz Brezec, who I only remember because he was one of the lowest rated players in NBA 2K circa 2004-5.

He was the hero of Slovenia before Beno was.

    I forgot about Duerod!

Detroit Pistons to honor Vitale’s ‘79 team, Duerod before game vs. Warriors

DETROIT >> The hair will be a little bit grayer, the steps a bit slower, but other than that, it will probably be like nothing has changed, when the legends of the Detroit Pistons' basketball heyday convene Friday at their old stomping grounds near the Palace at the Silverdome parking lot.

Players and coaches alike — including the legendary Dick Vitale — will be on hand to honor the anniversary of the 1979 collection of former Titans, before this year’s titans take on rival Warriors at 7:30 p.m.

“Man, it’s been a long time. When we had the Vitale court, when they named the Silverdome after him (in December, 2011), I think that was the last time. But this time, I think we’re going to have just about everybody back, which is kind of incredible, after 40 years,” said Pistons legend Earl Cureton, who’s acting as an unofficial spokesperson for the reunion, even though he missed playing on that squad by one season.

“Just the fact that Vitale can get all of his people back, the coaches, and our trainer, and everybody … it’s great. Especially for Dick now. He’s getting older (77), and just to show the impact he had on the Pistons, in a two-year period of time, he made a serious impact. … The Detroit Pistons, back in the day, people remember those times that we had 9,000, 8,000 people coming to watch our basketball team in a 100,000 person arena.

“That was a special team that, year.”
