Thread: Jodie Meeks a Piston?

  1. #21
"This year, only three players in the entire NBA made at least 40% of their threes, 50% of their twos, and averaged at least 15 points per game: Stephen Curry, Goran Dragic, and…Jodie Meeks."

an efficient shooter/scorer who is still young with upside and athletic enough to hound 2 guards AND PGs pretty well. this is a good signing IMO even IF we 'overpaid' him $1M a year over 3 years. (i'll conceed that point merely for arguments sake) i don't get the outrage over this deal when most of the league would pay this guy their MLE and we paid just slightly above that for only 3 years.

I can. The Pistons are running the offense around Drummond. The targets and players aquired so far indicate this team wants 4 range shooters and high pick and rolls with Drummond playing cleanup and being a roll man.

I wouldn't be surprised if both Smith and Moose get moved. Jennings is looking like a backup plan if this Thomas thing doesn't fall through. We are probably stuck with Smith though.
Even still, he would be able to space on the baseline and provide a nice iso option high post. Assuming SVG can keep discipline. : /

Wut? Meeks became more efficient with more minutes. He is also consistently a good 3 point shooter off the bench or as a starter.
Ariza would be great, but why are we even comparing a SG to a SF? Or pretending that getting one means we can't have the other?
You better get used to the idea of this team loading up on shooters because that is what is about to happen for the next couple years.

I would be very happy if we had signed him to a contract along the lines of what Dorrell Wright got with Portland last year or something like that, $3M a year or so. That is my main issue with the Meeks signing, not that I don't think and hope that he will be great and worth every penny we pay him but that I feel that's where the market is for that type of player based on where similar players have signed the last several years. Run on sentences rule. I really don't think anyone else was going to step to the plate past around $4M per or 3/$10M really.

Quick piece by VINNY which was a logo style of his. VINNY also did two letter throw up's by the name of FI 2.

Just like 2009, I'd rather use the cap space to facilitate a trade, maybe pick up a lottery pick. Something similar to Boozer's situation plus a 1st. Not for the player, for the pick and to maintain flexibility.

Meeks is a guy that you use the mini MLE or that value on, IMO. Who cares if he helps us win 3-4 more games so we squeak into the #8 spot?

It just seems like we keep playing this game wrong.
What is happening is exactly what I was talking about. Now the Cavs need to move Jarrett Jack (approx $6M/yr) to clear space for LeBron. They are going to end up having top attach more value to him to make this happen, likely one of the many first round picks that they have.

    Would you rather have ...

Jodie Meeks at 3 years, $6M per

    or

Jarrett Jack at 2 years, $6M per
    AND
    a 1st round pick

    ???

doesn't jack have about 4 years left on his contract?

even if we could fit his salary under the cap, there's no way we could fit his head ANYWHERE in the state of michigan.

dem 1st rounders be nice though.

Just 2 and change. His third year remaining is only $500k guaranteed.

He's basically an expiring next year.

Could have added him instead of Meeks, added another 1st rounder, and still have about $8M in room to play with for a starting SF or to absorb another trade target.

    Just sayin.
