-Those students that were in 100-level college courses who had an opinion on everything and were so happy to share it and god this class is only 55 minutes long SHUT UP (In graduate school, on the other hand, these people are an asset, since they can reliably fill lulls during class discussions and keep things moving forward)

Yes, the prison industry in the US is a horrible monster that casts a poor light on the purpose and efficacy of the nation's justice system. But, I suppose, that's something for the "Things that are wrong but are likely to continue for a long time for a number of depressing political and cultural reasons" thread.
