    Rip gone.

    Bought out, not amnestied.

Doesn't make sense to have Gordon on the bench either though. It would be much better to extend Stuck and then trade him for a big. Knight/BG/Prince/Monroe/?.

Also I'm not as pleased as most seem to be about the buyout. The Pistons would've had to pay all of his salary if they used the amnesty, and this cheaper, but now he's still eating cap space. I'd rather have the cap space then save whatever they saved by buying him out. It seems like it was more about being cheap. I have no faith in the amnesty being used elsewhere either. I'm not sure where the optimistic outlook is coming from. Most people gave up on the Pistons, the ones who didn't are easily pleased.

I don't disagree with you Kool. We basically just bought out a very servicable player one year away from having a big expiring contract. Doesn't necessarliy send the signal that we're ready to get aggressive in the trade market.

I wonder how much input Frank has had on these moves.

It makes zero sense to buy out Rip

We've got an amnesty clause waiting to be used - use that on a long term contract and keep the shorter ones as trade pieces.

Buying out Rip and re-signing Prince is just fucking stupid on so many levels

well i have to say i'm shocked. and i have to think that we bought him out for significantly less than the $25 million or whatever he has left on his deal. it will save us a lot of money and get rid of a player who has worn out his welcome, but.....still don't understand why we did this, and why now.

The assumption has to be that the differences were irreconcilable in some way we don't know but really? As much as Rip wasn't exactly a "plus" defender, do we even have a guard over 6'2" now? What a mess.

Quick piece by VINNY which was a logo style of his. VINNY also did two letter throw up's by the name of FI 2.
