Broussard: Rip to Cavs might be back on

    3-teamer with Minny

Rip and #8 pick to Cavs for TPE

Cavs send #4 and #8 to Minny for #2

Cavs draft Irving and Williams at 1 and 2

that's horrible for Detroit. next year rip has value as an expiring. So the Pistons give up a draft pick and get nothing in return in exchange for cutting one year of Rip's contract.

The only way I'd do this is if I was sure I could land an awesome free agent, but there aren't even any awesome free agents on the market this year.

Yea, this trade would be pretty retarded as stated.

Jonas is worth more than the #8 pick in this draft. He already is what people want Jan Vesely to become.

Now if Minny gave us back the #20 pick overall, I think I would do it.

The thought of having a huge TPE to take back a player in another trade is appealing, if we knew it would get used and used properly, that is. Especially if the hard cap gets put into place and teams need to move salaries.

This trade is subtraction by subtraction. It sucks. I would rather give away Ben Gordon with #8, keep Rip, and use him as an expiring next season. And I would still want #20.

Broussard tweeted some updates that suggest that the Cavs would waive Rip after the deal (or using the new amnesty clause) and that the Pistons will not do the deal unless they get players back, too.
