To tank or not to tank

Should the Detroit Pistons play for the playoffs or the draft?

    *worth reading.
Phil Wenneck: The man purse. You actually gonna wear that or are you just fuckin' with me?
Alan Garner: It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

These are words to live by in life, not just if you are an NBA team.

    Tank.

Or, you know, believe that the odds of landing supreme talent in the draft this time around are lower than the Pistons' odds winning a title this year.

even if i'd like to have a top 5 pick to get a nice starting 5, i guess the east is not that good, if we get healthy anytime soon, this should be a playoff team

If we were a really shit fucking team (like New Jersey) I'd say tank it. Who gives a fuck, right? You're gonna lose most of them anyway.

I'd play the team "properly" until we no longer had the worst record ever and then tank.

BUT our team is completely different. I believe Joe thinks we actually have a lot of Championship Pieces. This was gonna be a long ass post in it's own thread looking at 60 win teams and their pieces and how we relate but fuck it:

In Joe's mind I believe he thinks:

Big Ben is a Championship Piece
Super Nova is a Championship Piece
    Tay is a Championship Piece
    Rip is a Championship Piece
    BG is a Championship Piece
    Bynum is a Championship Piece
Maxiell could be a Championship Piece
Jerebko could be a Championship Piece
Daye could be a Championship Piece
Stuckey is a Championship Piece (lol)

Our problem is that by the time some of our guys become Championship Pieces a couple of those pieces we already have will be gone.

So what we really need to do is play balls out now, hope to showcase the best of this Franchise and then come July 1st, 2010 make a sign and trade with Toronto for Chris Bosh

As a fan, there are times where I recognize that it would be better if we lost (like last year, and maybe even eventually, this year). But if I found out that the organization was intentionally trying to lose, I would be fucking pissed.

So should we try to tank? No.

Would it be better if we lost as many games as possible this year? Maybe.
    Find a new slant.
