Counting Cards In Casinos

If you're employing a Hi/Lo system, and the count is +6 or higher, should that prevent you from hitting on either a 15 or 16 when the dealer's showing an 8, 9, or 10?

From what I have read, you do NOT hit a 16 vs the dealers ten when the count is positive.

I find that somewhat odd, which is why I asked.

Bringing Down The House (which is what the 21 movie was based off of) is an entertaining read, if not especially realistic.

I've tried various systems (mostly cramming the rules on the plane) and have done ok (except when in St. Louis on those fake riverboat casinos). I don't wager much money at all. Once I double my initial investment or lose it all, my day of gambling is done.
