I think Hillary's lack of ability to nip this in the bud is a real problem, but I think Bernie is the bigger problem. If Bernie wins both Iowa and NH, his profile gets raised and she may not recover in time for Super Tuesday.

The timing of investigations is a lot more fluid than the timing of caucuses/primaries.
If Hillary doesn't have the nomination wrapped up by March, the FBI doesn't matter.
She's starting to have to campaign against Bernie, which is not where she needs to be.

No one knows how long the email investigation is gonna take or what's going to come of it. It could be a day, a month, a year, or more. Thus far, the big danger for Hillary seems to be the scope of extending into unrelated matters... like how the Whitewater investigation turned into Monica Lewinsky (who was 4 years old when the Whitewater shit happened). But who the fuck knows how that'll go down. or when.

By contrast, everyone knows Iowa/NH is in February. If Hillary doesn't get her act together by then, no one will give a shit about her email. Hillary's having troubles because of Clinton fatigue more than any one so-called scandal. In that respect, Bush also being in the race hasn't helped. Both Dems and Reps can agree on "not this shit again".
