The devil's advocate argument is that if everyone has guns, the person with ill intentions will face opposition. This case was made around here when the NIU shooting happened. Since guns aren't allowed on campus, the only person with guns was the person with bad intentions. Therefore, guns should be allowed on campus.

Not sayin it's right, "just sayin" that's the argument for that.

I could understand that sentiment if all those people carrying guns were trained, responsible gun owners. If they are not, you have an even greater chance of issues.

I was there two weeks ago, there are fences and construction workers all over the American History museum (bottom left building, closest to the monument).

Also, those look like video screens in the center of the crowds between the side walks that cross the mall. That's probably the million man march photo. Stand in the Gap didn't get nearly that many people. And Obama's inauguration was later in the year and the trees didn't have leaves (also they had less vid screens and the speakers were set up on the sides of the mall I believe).

My favorite part (the last sentence doesn't shock me at all):

The scary part is that within the fact-free conservative blogosphere, lots of people still believe the 2 million nonsense, or are at least repeating it. They believe it despite the fact that nobody can point to any evidence to support it.
