    Just saying that Joe D had the foresight to recognize that he'd be the only one able to spend big cash this offseason because everyone else was planning for the summer of LeBron. Now, all the genius GMs planning for that summer are going to be sorely disappointed. New York's goal of landing two max free agents is now impossible, for example.

    Joe played this one masterfully, if you think about it.

    However, the salaries retained will not decrease, so there will still be much less room for max free agents, no matter how you slice it.

    It was just an "in general" question. If the cap actually dropped to $50mil, max deals would be down $1.5mil/year maybe?
