Thread: What photoshop software to buy?

    What photoshop software to buy?

I had Photoshop 7 on my PC at my last job and got pretty comfortable using it. Anyway, I'd like to buy a version of photoshop for my home computer but I'm not looking to spend more than about a hundred bucks.

Should I just go with Photshop 7 or do you have a better solution?

Also, what is the difference between "Elements" and not?
Phil Wenneck: The man purse. You actually gonna wear that or are you just fuckin' with me?
Alan Garner: It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one.

Don't buy Elements, it sucks. I think they're about to or have released CS4, so I wonder if you can get, say, the first CS for a decent price.

    Don't buy Elements.

Don't "BUY" anything, just download it on LimeWire.

People put programs on there in .zip files and they place the key-gens in a word document so you can register the software.

I got free LimeWire Pro, Microsoft Office 2007, and a few programs for my Texas Instruments Calculator on there...

Works like a charm. Just make sure your downloading files that have alot of hosts so you know they're legit.

How do they get registration codes though?

People seem to get the impression that because a unique registration key is stuck on to each CD/DVD/package produced that the registration check is looking for an exact key but that's actually not the case at all.

Registration checks in software are essentially algorithms that require a "key" that falls within a range of "correct" amounts in order to "unlock" the program or allow it to install. Key gen programs generate a "key" that is within that range.

The author of the key gen looks at the software's raw code to find what algorithms are employed by the registration check and reverse engineers a program that produces an output the check system will see as valid.

The reason Windows XP requires an online registration is so M$ can keep a database of the keys used and check which key you are using and verify that it's not being used by someone else (that they either got from you or produced via a key gen) for their install of XP. Your copy of XP has no way of knowing if you are using your "correct" key on it's own.

Does Vista require something similar? I've been off a Windows machine for a couple years now.

I agree with Muhme, torrent yourself something good.

The registration codes come from the "KeyGen" programs that will be included. Most registration codes for programs are not kept in a database somewhere when they're issued or anything, they're just a series of numbers and letters in a certain order that will satisfy an equation to unlock the program. The keygen will provide you with a code that will satisfy that equation. You may need to try a few times until you get a unique key.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but that's how I understand it.
