Interesting read on the demise of WDFN.
Nice read.
I wonder how much longer 95.5 will be on the air.
It would be interesting to see if somebody from the station goes internet radio. such as the channels on iTunes Radio. I listen to Technicolor Web of Sound at work all the time. Shit's pretty high quality with almost no overhead as compared to a traditional station.
Other than in your car, you'd be able to listen to it all the time (as long as you have an internet connection, so I suppose half of Detroit would be SOL).
Muhme is probably happy he picked up some long-term job security.
Now that 97.1 has the market completely covered, they can do whatever the hell they want and not have to worry about appealing to listeners.
I may have to look into Sirius or XM.
I'm listening to the syndicated WDFN right now, and Dan Patrick's show is pretty dry.
Give me some Colin Cowherd!
It sucks that this happened, but WDFN has been on the decline for the last couple of years. Jamie and Brady was a great show and when they got rid of that it was over. Shep just can't handle the load himself. Stoney and Wojo got way too repetitive in the late stages.
97.1 is okay to listen to in short bursts. Open phone lines all day gets very annoying, though. Most of the people that call in are idiots.

I do like Steve Czaban's morning show quite a bit.
(I've stolen some schticks from there like "MANCRUSH")
And if you like the NFL, Chris Myers' show spends about 90% of their time on that, year-round.
Find a new slant.
It just isn't right that they were allowed to just sweep aside 15 years of what had become part of the fabric of the area, just like that.
