Pistons trade Billups/McDyess/Samb for Allen Iverson

Let's be honest: the team's window had closed.

With the group we had 2 or 3 titles were possible, but they fucked it up.

Once it became obvious we weren't gonna win the whole thing I was/am all in favour of rebuilding. IMO there is no point being a Top 4 team in the East year after year if you have no realistic shot at winning the title.

So this trade (or one very similar) had to happen. I might not like where the Pistons are now or where they are likely heading (team will probably get worse before it gets better) but such is life.

At least we got to enjoy a fairly long run near the top.

I agree. I think this is the beginning of the rebuilding years. I think Joe has positioned us well enough that the Pistons won't be rebuilding for long. I just wish he could have done better than an aging Allen Iverson.

IIRC, Billups requested that he be traded to Denver. It makes ya wonder if were not going to get anyone from the Nuggets that wasn't AI, or if Joe D just felt that was the best move.
