Well, there is the statutory rape issue. However, it seems to me a 19 year old would have very little in common with a 15 year old beyond tab A into slot B.Originally Posted by Wil Ledezma
Tough one. Both are iconic figures, but when I look at the body of work, I have to go with Neil Diamond.Originally Posted by Balkan
bukdow, am I going to Hell?
Well, the conventional Christian theology would say that if you have not accepted Jesus as your savior, then you are going to Hell. I don`t believe it is quite like that. Sometimes, I don`t think anyone is going to Hell.Originally Posted by Sir Douche Baggins
If there is a Hell, I certainly don`t believe it is the "fire and brimstone" Hell that is perpetuated by humans as a fear tactic. I think Hell is an absence of God. Put more tangibly, if you die without a relationship with God (not necessarily the Christian God), thats it, you just die. You don`t go to Heaven, nor Hell, your soul just ceases to be.
Well then if dying without a relationship with God means you just die and not go to hell, than what does anybody have to lose by being a Christian?Originally Posted by bukdow
If you are a Christian, which I am, and there really is a heaven/hell, which I believe, than you will benefit from it when you die, whereas if your not a Chrsitian and there is a heaven/hell you will regret it.
So following that theory, if a man does believe in God, and there is no heaven or hell, than he really has nothing to lose as far as where they will go when they die.
So the person who doesn't believe in God, at least on it's surface, has nothing to gain but everything to lose, and the person who does believe in God has everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Unless you don't enjoy your life to the fullest because you are a Christian, then die and there's nothing and you wasted your life.
Not saying I believe one way or the other, just trying to promote some discussion.

My point is that the conventional ideas of Heaven and Hell are, in my opinion, merely human constructs. What the hell (no pun intended) do I care about pearly gates and steets of gold? Those were images created for the mind of man to be able to grasp on to. The same thing goes for Hell. I believe it is just more hyperbole meant to "scare people straight".
If you need the ideas of reward and punishment hanging over your head to make you a follower of Christ, then you are missing the point entirely.
