The nation's No. 1 high school football prospect as ranked by Rivals.com - Jeanntte, Pa., quarterback Terrelle Pryor - apparently knew before most that West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez was headed to Michigan as the Wolverines' new coach.
"Add Michigan to my list," said Pryor early Sunday afternoon. "Rich Rod is headed to Michigan. I just spoke to him earlier this morning and he told me he's gone. I don't know when it will be announced, but it could be as early as today."

Will Rich Rodriguez convince the nation's top player to join the Maize and Blue?
Several media outlets then began reporting that Rodriguez told his West Virginia team that he was leaving for Michigan.

Pryor, who has been interested in West Virginia because its wide-open offense mirrors his own at Jeannette, seemed excited about the news.

"He's excited and so was I," said Pryor. "Michigan was on my early list, and now their right up there again. He's a great coach and I like his offense."

Rodriguez apparently informed Pryor before alerting most others, gauging the QBs interest in joining him at his new school.

"He called me this morning and told me before he announced to anyone," said Pryor. "He said he's keeping the same offense that he had at West Virginia because it's all he knows. I love that offense. I told him I was very interested."

Earlier, Pryor dropped Tennessee from his list when he was informed that quarterbacks coach David Cutcliffe was taking the Duke job.

"My list is made up of some of the same teams," Pryor said. "Ohio State is in there, Florida is in there and Penn State is in there, but now Oregon is in the mix and now Michigan - so a lot has changed. Tennessee and West Virginia are now out."

Pryor hasn't set up an official visit with Michigan as of yet, but will certainly take one. There had been rumors he was going to make his decision at the U.S. Army All American Bowl in San Antonio in early January, but he dismissed those rumors as false.

"I've only been to Ohio State on an official and I've been to Penn State a few times," he said. "I need to see other schools, especially Michigan now."

i like mallett, but if we can get this kid im telling mallett happy trails. our offense would be pretty dynamic with RR telling mcguffie and this guy how to do it.

Ditto, I like Mallett too, but given the choice between the two, it wouldn't bother me to see Ryan leave...

    Will Ledezma:

Will, sometimes you really are an idiot.
All you so called Michigan fans who have been tossing Ryan Mallett under the bus are the stupid asses that bukdow thinks you are.
The kid was a freshman, thrown into the games by injury, and he played a spread type offense in high school.
AND, he was coached by Lloyd Fucking Carr, Mike Fucking Debord, and Scott Fucking Loeffler (even Art said Loeffler has "basically taken two years off" due to personal reasons). Th offensive line coach is a former fucking LINEBACKER. AND, UM's offensive line SUCKED ASS.
Oh by the way, in games started, Mallett went undefeated. Of course, the rest of the fucking team quit on him at Wisconsin. Now, even the whisper of some other high school player putting Michigan "on his list" has you talking about Mallett transferring.

Ledezma, you get the award for being the JERKOFF OF THE DAY!!!

I'm kind of with Zip on this one. It would be great to get a 5 star prospect and all, but I liked what I saw of Mallett. He wasn't the best when he played, but he was a freshman, and he was the #2 QB prospect in the nation coming out of high school. Why would we give up on him for a CHANCE at someone else, who will just be a freshman. Who's going to play QB for us while this new freshman gets acclimated to the college game? Who's going to be his competition? Personally, I don't want Mallett going anywhere.

Guys, Mallet is a pro style QB and will be a great pro, but Pryor's dual threat is the offense you need in college to be successful, especially in RR's offense.

I'm not bagging on Mallett, just given the choice between the two, I'd rather have Pryor...

So excuse me if I am the minority on that...

Mallett will be in the NFL someday, whereas I doubt that's the case for Pryor...

    Its really pretty simple.

Mallet enters the draft after winning the NC next year. Pryor gets some experience next year with all the blowouts, then takes the helm as a sophmore.

What am I missing? a lil reality?

Mallett becomes second sophomore to win Heisman. In fact, he's so good, they give him two of them. He then gives them back, saying he was "Just Kidding", and quits football to become President of Uruguay.
