As I recall my youth, Al Greene's songs were always about 'lovin some chick', getting back together or how much these 2 love each other type of thing. Not trying to make that a knock, just a description as I remember it.

GC was one of the boys. GC would fit in at any party. For those of us that grew up in that era, GC was cool.

That might be pretty weak description, but when you were at a party, you didn't put on Al, you put on GC. Al wasn't even on the radar.

These are two guys who have been gradually making themselves uncooler over the years. Clinton because of crack, Green because of religion.

This is a tough call. Al Green has got a real gift in his voice, he's a monumental artist. But George Clinton is just completely out of his mind and he's worked all his life toward encouraging people to be themselves and show off their freakiness.

I met George Clinton in a recording studio I used to work at. He was always hanging around there. We watched Oprah together in the lobby one day. He's hilarious. I think I may have to go with George.
