Apparently Robert Plant hates "Stairway To Heaven" and he doesn't want to have to sing it on any reunion dates. I don't blame him, I hate that shit too. I'm telling you man, first 2 albums and all downhill from there.

I've never liked that song. Everyone raves about it but I just can't stand it.

These are what make Led Zeppelin great. All that Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir, etc. stuff just seems to drag on forever with no point.
There's lots of great stuff beyond the first two albums. My favorite LZ song is on their third album. The Houses Of The Holy album is awesome from start to finish, in my book. Fuck, Billy Squier made a career out of borrowing late-LZ goodies like Nobody's Fault But Mine.
That's my favorite Zeppelin song.Originally Posted by Big Swami

Heard a great soundbyte from Plant this morning on the Zep XM channel in reference to Zeppelin 3.
Paraphrase:
Zep 3 is one of my favorites."When Led Zeppelin 3 came out, it was not very well received, people were like, "What am I supposed to do with this? Where is 'Whole Lotta Love' part 2, 3 and 4?" Well, you can find those on Black Sabbath's Paranoid. People didn't understand that we also needed to please ourselves with that album".
I actually celebrate LZ's entire catalog.
I'm surprised that Swami is taking such a hardline stance on something so subjective.

I like Stairway to Heaven, I like Kashmir, I like Zeppelin period. I DO not like the University of Michigan.
I once read an article in which the writer described Led Zeppelin as "a band who was electrified by the blues, and so decided to return the favor." That's what I think about them too. Their best stuff is the psychedelic blues-based music and all that folky shit just bores me. But then again, I like early Black Sabbath too, so I guess Plant's got a point.
