Current depth chart, as I see it
PG: Felton/Boykins
SG: JRich/Carroll
SF: Wallace/Morrison/Dudley
PF: Okafor/May
C: Nazr/Hollins

Who knows what he hell Morrison/May are going to bring, but if they are 100%, this is a playoff team in the East.

Free agents/options:
Okafor (R)
O. Harrington (team option)
Hollins (team option)
Boykins
D. Anderson

I think Okafor gets his new deal, and they'll bring back Boykins (if he is willing). Othella won't be re-signed. Hollins is a bit of a project, but he's got youth and size, so they'll pick up his option, most likely. Anderson's return is a crap shoot.

Draft outlook:

Picks: #9 and #38

With Boykins' status (and performance) in question, a backup PG is a big need. A quality big would also be a good find, because Hollins isn't rotation-ready.

As always, we're looking for players that "play the right way".

My bet is on Westbrook. Explosive PG that has the size to play backup SG as well. Similar to Stuckey, but 2 inches shorter.

What are the salary cap rules for trades involving players for draft picks?

draft picks have no salary attached to them. for the purposes of balencing a trade they count $0. So, you have to add whatever filler is needed to keep the deal within the %25 salary rule (unless the team has the space to take on the player's salary, then it doesn't matter).

itd be crazy if they could trade this pick like last year in a same type of deal but instead for a bigman.

Sorry, that's why I did the swap. I couldn't afford to draft a potential big there when VC doesn't have a lot of years left (and RJ could be traded in a year or two if they can't get anywhere). NJ needs someone that can contribute right away.

What's plan b? Keep Okefor at C and grab Love? or grab a guy with more potential but also the potential for a bust?

I know who I'll pick if I decide to keep it, but I'd like to take a little time to field trade offers, and since I have some cap space to work with, there are a lot of possibilities.

76ers would love to be able to move up and nab a guy, but I don't see the pieces there to make a deal since Iggy's not available.

Memphis would also be interested. Kyle Lowry and the 29th?

I'm sure LB would love to have Darko.

I meant the 28th pick (even better!) with Lowry.

All I have to offer is Ak47 and I'm not sure he's what your looking for at PF. On the other hand we may be able to work something out with Boozer for Wallace or J Rich and picks somehow. I'd have to think hard about that one. You have time anyway.

How is this team in need of a big man? They have Nazr!

The Bobcats have selected C/PF Kevin Love.

Love was not only the BPA on the board, but he fills a big need for the Cats.

LB will love his attitude and work ethic and he'll be a nice compliment to Emeka Okafor in the paint.

Love is a post scoring machine and Okefor can guard centers anyway. Good pick IMO. Love plays the right way. he also has 3 point range (in college anyway) which helps since neither J Rich or Wallace are great 3 point shooters.

jrich is pretty good at 3's. good enough to be their best 3pt shooter

I've been covertly trying to deal #38 and maybe a player for a backup PG and it hasn't been working out so well.

I have the ability of taking on a contract (for the right player) and can even sweeten the deal with an expiring if I really like the player.

Might as well just throw that out there and if it doesn't work, I'll just target a PG with #38 or look for one in free agency, lol.

Thinking that LB might be able to coach him up, I went with DeVon Hardin at #38. That's quite a bit lower than a lot of places had him going a few months ago. His workouts must have sucked.

The Cats will have to find a veteran backup PG via trade or free agency.
