Samuel L Jackson stormed onto the screen in "Jungle Fever" and hit a home run with Jules in "Pulp Fiction".
Since then, he has pretty much been the same guy in every movie.
I'll never forgive him for "Shaft". A period piece that meant NOTHING when they redid it with Jackson. A total blunder.
Depp is a different guy in every movie, and takes on the edgy roles and does them exquisitely. I fault Depp for selling out and doing two more "Pirates" movies, but we all make mistakes (it's just that mine are not $20 Million Dollar paycheck mistakes).
tough.....i want to vote for Depp because i do like him as an actor. but this is the Tournament of Cool, so Samuel L. wins:
Well said.Quote:

Don't forget SLJ as Stacks in Goodfellas, and he also had a great death scene in Deep Blue Sea.
Zip, I disagree with you on the Pirates thing. I feel like those movies define his career. He made that character, as the higher-ups wanted a "typical pirate" and he changed it to fit what he wanted to do.
He's the one that suggested more Pirate movies, if I recall correctly. And he might be doing another one or two.
However, SLJ should be the favorite of this whole tourney. He's a great actor (Depp might be better) and when you see him you just think "damn, that is one cool man."
Mola said it pretty well in an email, "this is a tournament of cool, not necessarily a tournament of talent". (paraphrase)
