plus supposedly some of his best known pieces he literally didnt have anything to do with, he just told his assistants to come up with whatever and they did it all from concept to forging his signature.
imo, he snuck in the back door when no one was looking and then used his own fame to suck dry the talented people that naturally gravitated to his fame to maintain his aura, or what have you.
