But they just 'abstained' the resolution in the UN. They didn't block it by voting 'no'...afaict.
That said, its a tough call on what to do. I just wish if we are going to do this, it would have been done a couple weeks ago, maybe 3 now, when it really would have saved lives.

Barry said its about stopping a Gov't using its military to kill its own peeps, so I was thinking that is the goal of the US. To maximize that goal, do it early where we will save lives.
If the basis for using force is the killing of a nation's own citizens, doesn't the killing have to actually take place before a move is made?

True. And that happened about 3 weeks ago. He used his military on some of those early demonstrators. Creating a no fly zone at that point, would have saved lives. Then when the internationals didn't do anything, he really went off.
Its a slippery slope and and at the bottom of the slippery slope is a big pile of shit.
But it would have been nice if Egypt, SA(not San Antonio) and other Arab countries would have handled this.
Its pretty clear though, that Barry wants to get in and GTFO! And thats a good thing.

The military in Egypt had/has a large economic interest in maintaining social stability since they run all the profit making industries in the country. I haven't read anything that characterizes the Libyan armed forces as anything but foreign mercenaries.
Thought this was a good read for the description the guy paints of the two different types of Arab countries calling for revolution, modern nation states with citizens that see themselves as one people and "tribes with flags" with citizens existing together in a very power dependent worldview.
