I don't see how he can be retained with an epic fail as coach
I think he would be, but he shouldn't be. If you can't keep this team above .500 you suck as a coach. almost all these guys were here last year, so I'm not buying the chemistry excuse. If that really was a problem he should have brought AI off the bench and not messed the rotation all up.
no. You do not fire flip after 59 wins and keep curry after this season. Dumars would lose face.
lose face with who?
Us spoiled fans.
Curry is Joe's guy to sink or swim with, IMO.
How many coaches is Davidson going to allow Joe to hire/fire?

I must be a lil' slow today because I don't follow you.
If the average nba coach lasts 2 years, I see no reason for Davidson to care if we get a new coach every 2 years however many games we win/lose.Quote:

I don't think coaches should get fired for not winning the championship, but if you have a revolving door of coaches (with the owner sometimes paying multiple coaches at the same time), and the team continues to underachieve year after year, how long to you continue doing the same thing and expect a different result?
^long-ass run-on sentence
They really do need to stop hiring/firing coaches. I'm just not ready to have the revolving door stop with curry being the guy.
Yeah, he should be fired. Carlisle, Flip, and LB were canned after AT LEAST a trip to the ECF. Why should Curry stay when the team will struggle to win 45 games and will most likely get booted in the second round?
We've only had one coach you can say had an underachieving result.Quote:

The main reason to "stop the revolving door" is so future coaches will see Detroit as a worthwhile place to work... so basically, Dumars should set up a future coach via back-channels first, and then cut Curry loose. I'm for Jeff Van Gundy myself, only because he's a coach who emphasizes defense, and we desperately need that. We have a worthwhile roster, I think he could do good things with it.
That's the straight dope from Keith.Quote:
William (Bay City, Mich.): The Pistons are looking at the very real possibility of dropping below .500 with a tough schedule coming up. Even with the changes this season, this team should not be losing this many games. Do you think Curry should be held on to after this season?
Langlois: Joe Dumars believes strongly in Curry, William, and is adamant that this season has been the first step in what he fully hopes will be a relatively painless transition from one era to the next. He effectively endorsed the anointing of Rodney Stuckey as the team leader with the Chauncey Billups trade, putting a lot on the shoulders of a 22-year-old point guard with a small-college background who missed one-third of his rookie season. Dumars has plenty invested in both Curry and Stuckey and he’s not going to make any rash judgments. Curry, however, is a realist. He considered both coaching and management opportunities when he retired as a player and chose coaching, fully understanding the harsh standards. He knows those standards are especially lofty in Detroit. But do I expect Curry to be back next season? At this point, 100 percent.
"relatively painless transition between eras"
yeah right
Those Bay City peeps are :cogent:
My outlook is this. For Joe Dumars not to have made a move at the deadline, it is clear he thinks this season is a wash. Until the Pistons get solid top caliber talent from another team, Joe Dumars wants a coach who can play whoever Joe wants. So, Curry's role for 2009-2010 depends on the Pistons roster after this summer. If the Pistons were to somehow get a top caliber player, would Curry stick around to coach him? Hell no. If the Pistons wait to 2010, then get ready for Mason to announce "Head Coach Michael Curry" followed by moans and groans for ANOTHER 41 home games.
Curry was hired so that the youth would get playing time.
We have whined about our youth never playing and developing for years and now when Joe D has had enough and does something about it we're pissed?
Of course Curry should be fired - he's fucking terrible.
But isn't he just the one appointed to take the fall? He must have known the next 2 seasons were gonna be painful and that the chances were great that his ass would get fired before July 1st 2010.
Joe and Mike must be the best of friends cause if a buddy of mine set me up like that I'd fucking knock him out.
Well, don't forget that's he's given you some guaranteed millions and some help on your resume as well.Quote:

i agree with that, let's not pretend though that Curry is a good coach that got thrown in a bad situation. He's a terrible coach that has made a bad situation worse.
As you can see, never do anything to please the mob. They are fickle any damn ways. :VOLCANO:Quote:

Let's not pretend that he was handed a great team though.
You go through training camp with Billups as your PG.
With a starting line-up of Sheed, Dice, Prince, Rip and Billups
A bench led by Stuckey, Affalo, Maxiell and Amir
And then you fuck that by trading Dice and Billups for Iverson.
I'm not here to debate the trade, but in Curry's defense hasn't he just been bent over the table and fucked with a 12 inch cock?
Iverson and Billups couldn't be more different in the way they play, the way they approach the game, the way they interact with team mates.
Once again, Curry has sucked.
But let's not pretend we were capable of being Top 4 in the East once Iverson was brought in.
And while I agree Iverson is a talent the fact remains he doesn't and will not mesh with our roster. That was well known (or should have been) before he even got here.
He'll be here next season. Get ready now.
If I were Dumars, I wouldn't have let Curry get on the plane after the loss last night.
Standing anyone in Cleveland is pretty harsh.
Yeah, Clevelanders can attest to that. They have to wake up there.
The punishment fits the crime.Quote:
