BTW, in case you guys didn't know, we just traded alex acker to the clippers for undisclosed draft picks.
Yes, we apparently got more than one.

AP says an exchange of future draft picks. Sounds to me that means we'll just have the option to switch 2nd rounders one year in the future.Quote:

I think you can have as little as 12 players.
LOL@ASB trying to make the Acker trade seem like a big deal.Quote:
AUBURN HILLS -- Detroit trading Alex Acker to the Los Angeles Clippers wasn't exactly the blockbuster deal many expected.
But this trade may turn out to play a pivotal role in Detroit's efforts to significantly upgrade the roster next season.
Not only does the deal clear enough money for this season that should help Detroit avoid paying a luxury tax, but it also clears about $1 million of cap space for next season.
Even before the Acker trade, the Pistons were well positioned to go out and sign a player to a max contract, and still likely avoid paying a luxury tax.
But Acker being traded gives them additional flexibility.
When you consider how dire the economy is right now, even NBA teams are looking to scale back spending. There's a very good chance that there will be some talented veterans who won't get nearly what they believe they're worth, and have no choice but to settle for the veteran's minimum which is close to $1 million - which is what the Pistons would have owed Acker.
according to Stein the Pistons are still 20,000 $ over the lux tax thershold...
The (very) minor trade Detroit has agreed to with the Los Angeles Clippers -- sending Alex Acker to L.A. for nothing more than a future swap of second-round picks -- appealed to the Pistons for obvious reasons. They were $731,868 over the NBA's $71.15 million luxury-tax threshold as of Sunday morning. Shedding Acker's 2008-09 salary of $711,517 almost gets them under the tax line.
Goodbye Wil Bynum.
Hello NBDL 10-day contract player to be named later.
Surely Bynum has shown enough to justify his spot...
What about Sharpe? What's he ever done? Dump him first

how about trade them both. Neither guy means anything close to "do not trade" important to me. Tag 'em, bag 'em, and ship them to wherever we can stack picks or get a useful player.

and we could trade them too captain hind sight. :P (referring to Glenn's post)
Sold! I'll take that too, or conditional ones if we can swindle those up. Stack up whatever it's going to take to get Stoudy.Quote:

Now you're talking Glenn!!!!!
GD - I actually watched that draft (Nathan Jawaii connection) and could not fucking believe when we didn't draft Chalmers.
When I found out we drafted DJ I thought maybe he could turn into something ... and then we fucking traded him for 2 bums I'd never even heard of.
At least they could have drafted Malik or Billy Walker or someone else I knew of. What a wasted day!
BTW, for those that care if Jawaii's family watched the draft on TV they didn't actually get to hear his name announced. He was drafted while our pay-tv service was showing ads!
Chalmers could be :our: starting PG right now.

Get all the 2nds you want - Joe ain;t doing shit with them or any other fucking asset.
They'll waste this big chance to use expiring and picks and then blame the economy or some shit.
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should have fucking drafted Bosh when we had the chance.
P, if you read the draft thread that was going on during the draft, several of :us: were excited about getting CHALMERS, especially that late.
If you can get a starting calibre PG that late in the draft, that's a home run.
Instead, zzzzzzz
The only problem with Amare is he's an offense only guy. Once Sheed's help is gone, were all going to be bitching about his defense (if we were to get him)
Good on you, Z - pity you didn't convince Joe to draft the guy.
Gutz, who cares about the D once Sheed is gone?
It's the new NBA - get with the program.
Glenn - as usual the Detroit fans draft better than Joe! Wrath of Diddy was right that Joe sucks big time at the Draft (Stuckey does not make up for Joe drafting Maxiell over Monta Ellis and Darko over Bosh)
Don't know, I look at it as this. I thought we had even lower odds of getting sheed, so its still possible. And of course i'm being sarcastic about the 2nd round picks by the boat load trade. All answers come at the dead line, but if Joe has a chance to get him and Miami gets him if Joe doesnt go for him, he may try a lil harder to grab him.Quote:

Doesn't matter if your bigs can defend if your guards are like fucking turnstiles.
Yea defense first preaching teams like the Celts, Cavs, Spurs, and Lakers are doomed.Quote:

In a perfect world, maybe, but this seems like one of those finesse moves that is executed when a GM knows he's done making trades for the year.Quote:

Pistons Acquire Conditional 2013 Second Round Draft Pick from the Los Angeles Clippers in Exchange for Alex Acker and 2011 Second Round Draft Pick
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced today that the club has acquired a conditional second round draft pick in the 2013 NBA Draft from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for guard Alex Acker and its 2011 second round draft pick.
Acker, 26, appeared in six games with the Pistons this season averaging 1.5 points and 0.3 rebounds in 3.3 minutes per game. Drafted in the second round (#60 overall) in the 2005 NBA Draft, Acker played in five games during the 2005-06 campaign averaging 1.8 points and 1.0 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per game. He scored a career-high four points in a career-high 18 minutes at Milwaukee (4/17/06) that season. He spent the 2007-08 season overseas with FC Barcelona averaging 6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 30 games.
Sweet! We are all set in 2013.
So who's got the appreciation thread?
According to RealGM, the 2013 pick from the Clippers is top 55 protected. There's no protection on the 2011 2nd rounder we're sending to the Clippers.
