Yao Ming's season reportedly is over.
KRIV-TV in Houston and The Houston Chronicle are reporting that Yao has a stress fracture in his left foot and the Rockets are expected to announce he will have season-ending surgery later Tuesday.
The team has scheduled an afternoon news conference.
Houston, currently on a 12-game winning streak, is in fourth place in the Southwest Division. The streak followed a loss in the one game that Yao has missed all season.
The 7-foot-6 Yao is averaging 22.0 points and 10.8 rebounds in 55 games this season.
Think they'll want Magliore now? Davis?
this guy can't stay healthy at all...maybe he's too big

Yep, sounds about rightQuote:
The 7-foot-6 Yao
Will he heal in time to play in Beijing?
This was really the season where Yao was lockingin his status as a dominant center. Houston was poised to do some serious damage and lazy eye had at least a shot at getting deep in the playoffs.
Rocket fan should just slit his wrists.
In other news, McGrady is going to come down with a season ending virus tomorrow.
That's too bad. I was looking forward to a balanced team like Houston testing one of the higher seeds. Now we'll have to suffer through Denver getting beat down. :(
Next time She Mac leaves a game he really needs to make it look convincing.
i feel bad for tmac:emo kid:
This really clears up the playoffs in the West, though.
Previously there was a close race between pretty much every team for a spot in the 8. Now, it seems (unless Houston can somehow keep it together) that Denver and GSW will take the bottom 2 spots.
It seems like this would have been a good place for Webber to end up. He already knows the offense, having run it for years under Adelman in Sacramento. Seems like a much better fit than the Warriors, but that's not saying much.
Rockets are in big trouble now. They'll be forced to start a 6'9" Scola at center and a 6'6" Hayes at PF. Bad news against PF's like TD, Amare, Brand (soon), Dirk, West, Gasol/Odom, Boozer, etc. They are going to get pounded in the paint a lot. Too bad we can't dump Brezec on them now. They might have done a Brezec/Hayes/Hermann for Battier deal for all we know. Also too bad it happened right after the deadline.
Deke played about 24 mins last night, he got a few points and rebounds plus 4 blocks.
Yeah, I saw the highlights and he's still waiving the finger. He even takes the time to do it when the play is still going on. I can't stand that guy. Have some class.
They could always pick up someone like Magloire.
I thought he was going to Dallas? If i'm Magloire, I pick Houston. There you have a chance to revive your career (at least long enough to earn a good paycheck next year) if you can keep them in the playoffs. In Dallas, you're just a Dampier backup.Quote:
