Pistons bringing back Brendan Malone
http://www.freep.com/article/2014052...brendan-malone
This 'Brandon Jennings' fiancé' story is interesting.
new Orleans apparently has approached us to look into a sign and trade for Monroe. how about ryan Anderson and Austin rivers? they both give us immediate shooting and rivers still has upside to develop into a really good player.
I'd be 100 % in if there were any real indication that Anderson would be the same again. That injury was brutal last year....has he been practicing and all that?
true. no- he hasn't. but they are at least SAYING they expect him to be ready for training camp.
on another note, how about we dream of dumping josh smith on the lakers for the #7? they would rather talented vets than a rookie and they have cap room to accommodate him.
ok, ok- I know that's not going to happen. but it would be amazing.
Is Tony Mitchell a disappointment? This news article seems to suggest he's on the cusp. Of course, who the fuck bitches about 2nd round picks that don't work out?

The team’s scouting department could come under a lot of scrutiny with the number of disappointing draft picks: Austin Daye, Walter Sharpe, Kim English, possibly Tony Mitchell, Terrico White, DaJuan Summers and Deron Washington.
That's exactly why I said "I wish we had a pick" in the draft thread.
we need to go out and buy a couple of 1st rounders! lakers are willing to move theirs, the suns are willing to trade one of theirs and I'm hearing the bulls are too- among others. and these are teams not just willing to package them but to trade them- for cash or future considerations. why? because they're trying to shed guaranteed contracts (particularly Chicago) so they can pursue FAs. this is a great opportunity to either buy a pick for cash!
this is a deep enough draft where I think it's a great move even if it costs a future #1 (with better protection than joe had!) as well as cash.
we should be trying really hard to trade josh smith for a nice pick but if not, then buy into the 1st round and target someone like stauskas. the kid is a baller and with his shooting, smarts, and high basketball IQ, he would be a great complimentary player to a guy like Drummond.

The #Pistons announce assistant general manager George David has resigned. David spent 17 years in the Pistons' organization.
Jodie meeks soon to be a piston? he's not a top tier FA, obviously, but he's a very solid player and brings the type of shooting we need. has pretty nice athleticism too. I think we got him for a good price too and didn't wildly overpay like we usually do in FA.
put him with a more developed Drummond and that'll help space the defense out more. good signing!
You're the first person I've seen on twitter/tv to say we didn't overpay.
(Also http://www.wtfdetroit.com/forums/sho...Meeks-a-Piston)
I didn't say we didn't overpay. I said we didn't WILDLY overpay. yes his pricetag got a bit inflated given the destination and the fact that FAs get overpaid, period. but it's not the type of wild overpaying that comes back to haunt a franchise IMO. he's a good player and will do well. it's not like we're building the franchise around him nor does his contract reflect that. but he's one of those sleepers FAs that I think people will look back and see it as a good signing.
he was not going to come cheap given the demand for shooters and his upside. it's not a bad deal IMO.

Summer league... makes me feel fine!
But I've got Andre Drummond on my mi-i-ind
Smiff to the Kings trade talks revived.
So the Kings would have Gay Cousins and Smith for their big 3.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11...ith-trade-talk
Do it. Than release Terry. Let him go to the Mavs. Who gives a shit. I think we'd be able to eat 6 mil next year no probs.
edit...if we dont' want his dumb ass.
When I think of Championship experience, Terry doesn't come to mind, bro.
I wonder how Sac likes Gay Cousins.
Monroe to sign qualifying offer from Pistons.
C ya after next year Greggy!
Maybe trade him at the deadline to a team he wants to go to.
what a dick. too bad we couldn't have found a sign and trade that worked for us. now we'll lose him for nothing. we COULD theoretically trade him (with his consent) prior to the deadline but his value will be much lower. not to mention at just $5 mil a year, we can't bring much back anyway.
he's a bitch and gets my vote to be the odd man out of the rotation- hope he comes off the bench and his FA value plummets. but of course he is the only decent FA next year so will get paid silly money. as much as I prefer his potential to stay with us, he clearly doesn't want to be in Detroit. so hit the brick shithead! go somewhere else and be a FA bust there!
Good. Greg Monroe followed the stuckey style plateau/slope. I also hate bigs who don't play d. I also hated him yelling and one all the time. I don't see him developing a jumper or becoming a solid defender, s I'm glad he's on his way out. Would like to trade him for so!ething good though
The drama sickens -- SVG says Monroe hasn't talked to him about accepting the QO.

^ just coming here to post that. My post might have been premature.
Its what I read but looking back at it, it didn't say anything about SVG.

The USA Today report indicated Monroe has informed the Pistons of his decision to sign the qualifying offer. Van Gundy indicated late Tuesday that he has not been so notified.
This is pretty much how I felt. Sometimes I think it's ok to lose a bit in business if you know it's a step back to take a few more steps forward. Pistons shouldn't offer him a max contract and he believes that he might get one or come really close somewhere else. I can believe they probably weren't going to get good trade value for him either.
He's prime trade deadline beef.
Agreed. I wouldn't mind trading him. Signing him to a max would be a mistake.
Drummond didn't play v Brazil...team USA. Some Piston's fans talk about this like its a bad thing. #idiots
Spect to see Drummond flying back to Detroit in the next day or so. He got a lot of good work in with USA team, but really not necesary for him to be there.
Thanks, keep the updates coming.
^ Will do.
Drummond at practice.
Gonna go to dinner after.
Now when you're at The Palace, you'll get to see how horrible the Pistons are in triple HD! http://t.co/4bsSR9oKDS
