Is Quinn good enough to give up on a SURE top 5 pick next year? Hell no! Man, something is wrong in Cleveland. They must have been watching ESPN cry about Quinn for four hours and felt sorry for him.
I have a suspiscion that 5 years from now Cleveland will be praised for this move. If I'm wrong, fine, but they were aggressive and I can't blame them.
they were aggressive because he became severely cheaper at that lower pick. Meaning that they arent ready to pay him franchise blue chip money. Its good value, but way too much was gien up. Pay attention to whoever Dallas and where they are five years from now.Quote:

I'm not saying they paid a good price, I'm just saying that they were probably wise to go after him and not wait for him to slide more.
The price does seem high, but look at it this way...........
If they sucked next year with Charlie Frye they were looking at a top 5 pick........maybe they get lucky and get Brohm, but if they aren't and have to settle for the 2nd best QB (Booty, Henne or anyone else) they are going into 2009 with a rookie QB and may have a pissed off Winslow and Edwards by then, not to mention Romeo is fired for sure. Now there pick might still be top 5 or even 10 and they won't have it, but they will go into 2009 with the same coach, a 2nd year QB who presumably knows the system and a young nucleus minus Jamal Lewis that is potent. Long term it could be good IMO.
I gotta take my man Colin Cowherd to task. This is why you take what talkinf radio heads say with a grain of salt.
Leading up to the draft, he ranted against Brady Quinn numerous times. He called him weak armed, bad mechanically, and befuddled by defenses unless they had players who were about to be shipped off to Iraq.
Now, at the draft, he interviews Quinn after he has finally been drafted by Cleveland (thank you Cleveland, for allowing ESPN to finally move to another story line after 4 hours), and is all over Quinn's jock like a cheerleader. I thought he was going to ask Quinn to sign his ass.
And today, he's doing the sam thing: Great athlete, a better pick than Tedd Ginn, great work ethic, and a great player.
We're talking Dr Tre credibility here, and it's sad. These guys are quick to jump on an athlete, not afraid to tell the truth when they're in Bristol, Connecticut, but when they are sticking a microphone in the athlete's face, they wilt.
Too bad that Quinn didn't fall to the 2nd rd. so that the Raiders could have taken him. Russell and Brady on the same team. I don't think that the Raiders could ever buy that much publicity. The battle in training camp for the starting job would have become legendary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Quote:
